I hate people so much. Oh, whats that? The big authority man told you thing was bad? You’re just gonna accept it at face value and let him do whatever he wants? Oh nooo, your fucking beloved family member is dead now, and nothing less would have convinced you. Guess authority man was wrong about this one little thing
Why is it always the left that has to dumb things down for the right?
Because… they’re dumb?
So that is easy. Religion is based on tradition, and the right is heavy based on religion. Tradition is all about doing a thing without really knowing why. So it skews heavily toward the non-critical thinkers.
Most have ability to learn more, but the systems indoctrinate them not to learn more than they allow and be obedient, they go along to fit in, their team wins when others lose, zero sum thinking. It’s damaging and holds us all back.
“I thought something obviously stupid because nothing is real unless it affects me. But then it affected me! ¡Que sorpresa!”
But when Republicans talk about freedom, the progressives hear privilege. Aren’t the Left and the Right essentially saying the same thing?
No. The fuck is wrong with you?
I’m a Republican, and in nine months of advocating for safer streets, I have yet to meet another one.
You’re a hbthe wrong crowd…
Yet somewhere along the way, we turned roads into a political argument
Yeah. You know who is “we” here? Republicans
Nah this ain’t it. All shared resources, including transportation, are inherently political.
They only care when it impacts them personally. Fuck them, selfish pricks.
Oh, it impacted them.
What in the stupid?
Welllllll, bike lanes ARE DEI! They’re inclusive of people who don’t have cars.
I don’t think you could explain the ideas behind DEI to a conservative though.
you are going by bike only if you don’t have a car? Oo
I’m sorry for the loss, the road did indeed fail, and I am happy there’s at least one Republican who cares about road safety, but …….
There’s a whole lot of twisted logic trying to make it seem like “both sides the same”. I mean, I wouldn’t argue it since she does see the light after it affected her personally, but wtf
How are bikes even DEI? Riding a bike is ableist and exclusionary. In order to ride a bike, a person must have two reasonably strong legs (or arms, in the case of a handcycle) and to go any great distance, the rider needs to be in pretty good shape.
I am not saying we should not have bike lanes, since they provide an additional, clean and healthy mode of transportation, but I just don’t see them as DEI.
Easy, “DEI” means “some stuff that changes the status quo and makes my life 0.0001% different sometimes”
Words lose all meaning when held by a bigot
Using DEI as a negative adverb is just openly admitting being a fascist.
So you want uniformity, inequality and exclusion?
It’s like being against antifascism.
because poor people or non-whites might use them to travel outside of their own neighborhoods and into the domain of white folk with more money.
Don’t most bike lanes also allow things like Mobility scooters on them for people with disabilities?
It’s DEI because “everyone I know drives a car”
i’m disabled as fuck. i use a tadpole etrike (that cost way less than any car i’ve ever bought) as my primary means of transport for anywhere within 20 miles. if i want, it’s just my thumb exercising. my county has very good infrastructure tho. it’s not as exclusionary as you’d think.
edit: my bike is on a rack while i get a new inner tube, otherwise i’d take a better photo: here’s Sweet Marie with 60ish pounds of kitty litter in the back. probably a year ago? i’ve added two mirrors and rotated the basket.

Bikes cost way less to buy and maintain then than cars, therefore economically disadvantaged people can more likely afford them compared to cars. Building cycling infrastructure is unironically DEI because it promotes Diversity, Equality and Inclusion of road users who otherwise wouldn’t be able to use the road due to systemic injustices.
Leopards Ate My Face moment
God damn that leopard is getting fucking FAT.
It’s not a problem until it affects me
It wouldn’t be so bad if they didn’t demand respect while doing everything they can to avoid earning it.
lol what an absolute fuckwit. This is a truly majestic and impressive lack of self-awareness.
