We catch and release most of the bugs that get into our house, if we can. One of my kids was horrified when a friend’s mom squished a bug while he was visiting, because that’s not what we do!

    Mosquitos are the exception

Spiders terrify me, but I respect them and have been trying to get moree comfortable around them. They are just smol fast crawlies that like tasty bugs, so I let them chill when I see them.

Honestly, the small angular ones that lay larvae on clothing get swatted or electrocuted without a second thought. They fall into the mosquito category.

Everything else gets escorted outside or, if not feasible without risking harm, left to their own devices.

I’ll admit I have a huge fear of moths ever since I was a kid. I wouldn’t kill it, because I couldn’t get close to it, but wouldn’t cry either… :(

Fair. My cousin has a fear of moths. He once described encountering a moth at night:

“I could hear him, out in the hall, his whings beating. whooosh whoosh. I held my blanket tight, and waited for him to pass. And that’s when the door swung open. CRASH I looked up from under the covers and screamed. AAAAAH

I never did find out how he got rid of that moth.

I hope he didn’t kill it.

Moths are usually slow enough to catch in your hand. They’re not gonna bite so they’re pretty easy to take outside manually.

Or another trick is to use light to coerce them into another room, like a bathroom. Then leave the window open and the door shut and by morning they’ll have gone out the window.
