  • If you didn’t run the lights, it’s only 33kW motor, less in newer Starships

Assuming you had 208V 3ph, that’s under 100A. Much less if you are in commercial area with 240V 3ph

If you don’t plan to spin 48 people, you could replace motor with a 120V single phase motor 5hp and remove a lot of weight from the ride (cut holes in every other fiberglass panel)

A decently small generator (relative to a full trailer carnival ride)… could power this. There are many tow behind 50kVA diesel generators. (Another $8k)

BTW the reason these UFO/gravs are for sale is because they are all rotting, the fiberglass panels that hold it together are like paper now and too expensive to repair.

  • Well there’s cost. Think about how many outlets in an office or home.

You may not understand the engineering of “UL” or safe switches because they would have to have full current of a short going through them, you have arcing, lifetime toggles, the ozone weakening the molded plastic, etc.

With most outlets (receptacles) there is a solid copper bar that goes from the wall wires to the part that pushes against the prongs of the plug. With a switch it’s slightly more complicated and would you only break the hot? What if someone wired outlet backwards?

Sure you could make every plug involve a fuse, circuit breaker, arc fault, GFCI, and a switch. And a USB transformer and nightlight.

It could help though in many homes if you had only one outlet wired to a switch, and could help with parasitic current draws of almost everything modern.

  • How the fuck you lie to yourself like that? Getting better?

The average global temperature this year was highest in last 125,000 years. The US is about to have an election between two pathetic old men that no one likes except mentally deranged or blissfully in denial. In fact, Republicans and SCOTUS might remove Biden from ballots under the CO ruling of 14th Amd. citing “given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof”

China is about to invade Taiwan where 80% of semiconductors in advanced products are made, and US only move is to destroy the billion dollar fabs and pause technology with 4 years of no new things like iPhones.

AI is becoming 80% accurate on predicting deaths and will soon lead to insurance companies dropping people from life and medical right when people need it, and also employers will take advantage.

Antarctica is literally falling into the ocean. Oh and don’t forget 1T tons of carbon stored in permafrost.

  • No. It’s ambiguous. In a math book or written by anyone that actually uses math, you don’t have a “%”

You group stuff below the line, and you use parens and brackets to group things like (a + b) and (x)(y) so that it is not ambiguous.

2/xy would be almost always interpreted differently than 2/x(x+y) which is ambiguous and could mean (2/x)(x+y) or 2/[(x)(x+y)]
