Small government is allegedly still at part of the Republican platform at the state level. For a small government party, they sure do like to dictate what’s going on in people’s bedrooms.

Absolutely. Lemmy had a very different feel than reddit up until Sync was released. Now I can barely tell the difference.

There’s still a lot of money to be made in fossil fuels and there’s an increasing amount of money to be made in dividing people with disinformation. Doom and gloom is just good business. Yay for capitalism.
I’d also expect another big jump when clients like Sync and Boost get their apps for Lemmy online. That will attract an enormous amount of users from reddit.
