Same here, iCloud+ works great for me, the domain setup was painless and you can even create multiple aliases & inboxes and share the domain with your iCloud Family if you have one.

Not sure what exactly is alarming about this… It’s always a cat and mouse game, nothing has really changed

Too bad Matrix clients are all kinda meh… Beeper is the only pretty solid one I’ve come across and it sadly isn’t open-source.
