Am I not getting something here? Is this a meme of some kind? I don’t see the joke in removing heathcliff and these comics are cluttering this community. Is there a way of filtering these out somehow?

Well yeah, on Lemmy that qualifies as clutter (in comparison to other posts). But with the help of others I found the filter function, I should be good now.

And I don’t find them awesome. I find them boring and low-effort. But fortunately not everyone has the same taste!

Just block the user. I like trying to guess where the cat was. It is funny that the jokes sometimes don’t need the main character to work

Ah nice, I found the setting in Voyager! I wouldn’t want to block the user, they might have other cool things to contribute. I just don’t like this particular content and it’s very prominent in my feed.

It was originally Garfield without Garfield which took the inimitable inability to tell a joke that Jim Davis is capable of and transformed the comic into (most of the time) an exploration of existential nightmare. It just doesn’t hit the same with Heathcliff because most of them are actually endearing and bizarre—without the cat for the physical gag it’s just kind of confusing and not much else.

Ah, now that you mention it, I remember those! They were indeed very bizarre and unsettling at times!
