Me too. I feel things have slowed down a bit in general here. Vote counts still kinda look the same, but I don’t feel like I’ve heard from as many regulars lately.
I thought this little owl was exceptionally pretty. I don’t post too many Scops Owls, as there are a lot of them and to most people they’re going to look much the same so I don’t want it to feel too stale. If we’d lump Old World Scops (Otus) and New World Scops (Megascops) together, that over 80 species out of the +/- 250 species of owl.
I do seem to have a particular fondness for the Indian owls though. This guy and the Indian Eagle Owl both have a browner and earthier coloration that I really like, maybe just because it’s not the norm, but I need to keep things fresh to me too! After looking at thousands of owl pics over the last year doing this, I get excited when I see something different.
