Superbowl@lemmy.world•New Flight Feathers for an Unlucky Screech Owl
1·2 days agoPoor little one lost his house, transportation, and got woken up from his nap all at once!
Thankfully its floof saved it from more than that 😮
What a way to be woken up!

4·2 days agoYup, as long as the follicles the feathers grow from are not damaged, these should last until they are dropped naturally.
If they didn’t do this, it wouldn’t be able to fly (or at least well enough to be on its own) until new ones came in, which would be up to a year or so.
I love me some Flammy, especially when they yeah the saturation just a bit to bring out those flamulated touches.
Other people here were calling it the Ent Owl, which I enjoyed. It does seem part tree.

Imping pins are selected to fit inside both the donor feather and to create the bridge into the living animal’s feather. Adhesive is applied to secure everything!

Superbowl@lemmy.world•Pepsi the 'incredibly old' barn owl dies at 19 at Isle of Man zoo
18·3 days agoAww, it’s always so sad to see the passing of ambassador animals. I feel bad for all the people that worked with Pepsi for so long after bonding with him so much.
It’s nice to see he had such a long and good life.
That was the exact comparison I thought when I saw it!
You always get an A for effort!
Each owlet should get its own bedroom!

My grammar went on vacation along with me.
