Fruit flies can live for 45 days… ask me how I know
Because you buy too much fruit and don’t finish it all before some of it is overripe?
It was actually dairy recycling that overstayed, but yes.
Can someone explain? Can’t make any sense of it
Fruit flies have an incredibly short life time so those who aren’t getting stuck in wine just end up dying shortly after anyway.
The moral of the story is to get drunk, high, and have lots of sex (or other equally engaging hobby like knitting) because we are cosmic fruit flies.
My place at ten? I’ll bring the wool.
Okay that’s what I was thinking. But was thrown off by the clock. Fruit flies have a short life but longer than 6 hours so it didn’t really make sense for them to die exactly at the same place.
I thought choice paralysis (from having to think about their future) made them freeze there and die from starvation or something
(It’s 30 minutes.)
I’m just gonna lay down here and die like them flies :)
I think OP is confusing fruit flies with mayflies, some of which really only live for a single day as flies. Some of them even live only for a few minutes as flies. E.g. Oligoneuriella rhenana only lives for about 40 minutes in their adult form.
But they live much longer, some of them up to 4 years, in their non-adult forms.
Hint: Check the clock in the background in panels 2 and 3.
Yeah, the clock is 6 hours later, but fruit flies don’t suddenly die within 6h.
Edit: can’t read clocks anymore I guess
The future is uncertain. Live for the moment and make the most of the short time you have.
Momento mori
