    Perhaps, but movie tickets today are more expensive than they were in 2019. Box Office dollars is a poor way to judge a movie’s draw when compared to ticket count.

    It’s all marketing, they want to compare money because otherwise they’d have to talk about how a movie from the 1930s still holds the record for most tickets sold in the US.

      I’m surprised to see classic films so high on this list, but there’s so many more people in the world today, so it’s unsurprising to see modern movies at the top https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_films_by_box_office_admissions
