        I don’t think guns are needed in the way they’re mythologized in the US as, where people buy a gun with the fantasy they’ll one day get to use it in the most brutal fashion in a way that’s justified in their mind. A lot of them love the idea that someone would break in to their house so they get to be the hand of justice. What the gun lobby and politics doesn’t really emphasize is that most gun deaths are suicides.

      Non-violence is a bourgeois value in this context, so they pay the lower class to exert violence on their behalf. What non-violence means to the lower class is in conflict with this.
