Explanation: Dom Pedro II of Brazil was an unusually mild and idealistic man for a literal monarch. He would be overthrown after abolishing slavery in Brazil, and died in exile, still wishing the best for his country, even without him or his dynasty - which is more than most monarchs would proffer in his position.

Apparently he was even respected by leaders of other countries. Pretty rare for such a backwater country.

This is complete and utter fabrication. He was irascible and unstable, and the only reason he abolished slavery was to maintain trade with Britain, which was the main reason he betrayed his family and “made his own country with blackjack and hookers”. Stop whitewashing white colonialist monarch scum.

egg on my face, wrong Pedro.
