Science@lemmy.ml•No cities on the Moon: a billion tons of water is not enough for sustainability
3·4 days agoThat’s a lot of wishful thinking to digest ;-). There’s zero evidence to support this vision , and human egoism (wars, revenue-focus, …) seem to be IMHO completely ignored. I witnessed these type of predictions in the 70s, 90s, 10s… they never materialized.

4·5 days agoI see, yes I see where you are coming from. On the other hand, I was thinking of climate change, plastic in the oceans, PFAS and so on. Human products that are damaging the ecosystem around us and that will mostly hit humanity in the back of its neck in the near future. So we DO shape our environment- but not to our ACTUAL needs.

141·5 days agohumans were not made to live in the harshness of space. Perhaps first create really fantastic robots, and let them do the hard work. Or even better: invest more in saving Earth.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•I would like to write an opera but where do I start?
14·5 days agoI don’t want to dwell too much on the AI bit (although AI is making great strides), because it quickly gets people “on the fence”. I mean, the creative part part is mine, and the melody too; tatata dum-di-dum taraaaaah! But I don’t want to give too much away.

1·5 days agoAlas, that’s not part of the business plan at this stage, but I will offer lower pricing for students. Would that work for you?

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•I would like to write an opera but where do I start?
22·5 days agoWhy should it be laughable? It is not as if I’m suggesting that it should be sung by robots… although… although… this gets me thinking! perhaps I better shut up , the world is full of thieves.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•I would like to write an opera but where do I start?
31·5 days agoThat is partially finished, I have also selected the voices. In my head I can already hear a lot of the piece, and occasionally I hum partitures from it in the shower.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•I would like to write an opera but where do I start?
48·5 days agoNo not really, I have rudimentary knowledge of notes. Could AI help me here? If I hum or sing the tune (The dramatic storyline is partially finished),could an AI engine turn it into a Partitur for each instrument?

4·5 days agoWe’ve completely switched to LEDs right when they became available. Taken together with all the other electricity savings that we have been doing, our electricity bill is 75% below what I hear from friends.
I only watch old stuff, I liked Arabesque with G. Peck and S. Loren.

But that’s all theory. Fact is that automation costs energy, and energy creates CO2. So climate change is the force that works against your plan, and since we are heading to 2.8C, time is quickly running out. In addition, trends such as urbanization (which has been taking place for about 5000 years), the rise of fascism etc also don’t seem to be in favor. Taken together, humanity may very well collapse first. So instead of working on your dream, become active; vote, protect.
