I think they should go all the way and use both letters. Þþ is for th as in ‘thing’ Ðð is for th as in ‘the’ XP


Print/paper should use serif, screen usually san-serif (with few exceptions), though it is getting more contested nowadays, due to better screen resolutions in general.
