Germany actually has a similar program: https://www.returningfromgermany.de/en/page/voluntary-return/

(and the mainframe would have exploded, for lack of unicode support)
You can only invest, if there is other people who actually make shit, and are willing to give it to you in exchange for gold.

Don’t use gnome appstore. It’s always broken
myotheraccount@lemmy.worldto Programmer Humor@programming.dev•I'm new to using Ruby and this tickled me pink16·2 months agoIntegers are just integers in ruby, with no structure backing them. They behave like objects, but only in some respects. You can call methods on them, but you can’t extend individual numbers with properties for example (which would require them to have structure).

myotheraccount@lemmy.worldOPto Linux@lemmy.ml•[SOLVED] Looking for restrictive Linux desktop firewall2·2 months agoThanks, I’m aware, but I’m looking for an interactive application that lets me create rules on the fly. I don’t want to have a one-time session where I check which tools connect to what, but rather something that interrupts me throughout the day…
If such a thing doesn’t exist, tipps on how to build it are welcome too though.
It’s easy guys, if nobody would rent, everyone could be a landlord, and we could let the rent rise to 10k a month or more even, and we all get rich on rent. How does nobody realize this? It’s irl infinite money glitch!
myotheraccount@lemmy.worldto Linux@lemmy.ml•Under the hood (not de's or gui) what REALLY separates linux from windows?4·2 months agoFreeBSD is actually a “real unix”, in the sense that it is derived from the original source. Wikipedia has this nice ancestry tree: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/77/Unix_history-simple.svg
It’s been a while since I looked into details of wayland, but one thing I recall is that a lot of things depend on the specific compositor / desktop environment you are using.
X is very open: you can easily query open windows etc, while on wayland things are less standardized / more hidden.
Which compositor do you use?
