what the fuck are oled people

what the fuck are oled people
yeah but I don’t hire those people
You’re showing your privilege lol
When you save an office file to PDF and you are in a OneDrive environment, it doesn’t save it locally - it saves it to the cloud, and then downloads it locally. it’s fucked up
I’m not going to fault people for having trouble when the “save this file as PDF” option doesnt result in a PDF immediately in the save directory
you can still do that
it’s buggier than it used to be, though
depends
are they trying to export a PDF from Microsoft Word? because Microsoft makes that difficult nowadays

if working with my hands like a peasant paid what my job does, I’d do it in a heartbeat. fuck this mental exhaustion and stress, I’d rather be working the field eight hours a day for the same pay
AI is not coming for my job, which leads me to believe it’s not coming for that many other ‘skilled’ jobs

siege was pretty cool for the first two years
my ‘new’ car is four years newer than my older car
I’ve had my older car for like seven years now
the jump from ~2012 to whatever my next car is will either be an even bigger relative step backwards in age, or be huge because of how many years of vehicles are simply not an option due to shitty tech, touchscreens, bad UI design, and LED headlights

there’s no chance my company stops using Windows any time soon
and until then, I need MS to stop doing their goddamn best to make it impossible for me to do my job

2/3 of the voting population didn’t vote against him, btw
doesn’t really seem like “literally one person”
this is not a comic where you want to look closely at any of the spacial details

yeah, I actually like it now, but that’s mostly because they made the start menu so fucked up and full of shit
I’ve adjusted to just hitting start and typing the first few characters of what I want to open and slapping enter. I’m okay with that process, I actually kind of like it. I don’t need to look at what’s going on and I don’t need to move my hand over to the mouse. The only problem, and this is kind of a big thing, is that yeah it doesn’t search just my fucking installed programs, and sometimes it just opens another program that doesn’t even match what I typed. so the 60% success rate at best is kind of a big failure

One of my bosses was screen sharing with me this week and had co-pilot up in Excel. I don’t know what he was doing with it. he started fucking around with it while he was screen sharing, just doing something unrelated to what we were talking about. I know he was just trying to bait me into asking what was going on.
fuck that, I don’t care, I know you love your AI, I don’t give a shit, it’s not useful for what I do and I don’t want to talk about how it can almost do something kind of right

Microsoft removed my quick access links to my desktop folder today
why? I don’t know. I guess they want to force me to use the OneDrive desktop folder. which I do use, for shit I want synced to OneDrive. but I also have a local desktop folder I use for temp files, and fuck you very much Microsoft left me fucking use my computer how I want to
side note, I had a little program that would export a file that a user had open to their desktop in a specific format. great program, super useful for the application we were running it in, it made a multi-step process of navigating menus into a single button click. I’ve been using it for the past few years at this company. cue my surprise when some new people inform me that the button doesn’t work for them and so they haven’t been using it - BECAUSE MICROSOFT TOOK AWAY THE LOCAL USER DESKTOP FOLDER LMFAO. it blew my mind that people had to go manually create a desktop folder, I had never thought to add checking if that folder exists to the code.

I don’t want it on

this was also my thought. I don’t care what it’s designed to do - I want a goddamn off button for my car lol
this is when you bring it up to your boss
“hey I was working on ___ and soandso was asking about it, are there any new requirements I’m not aware of?”
I’m really not.
so I get a temporary phone if I’m expected to be in a higher risk environment… not really a big deal
I’m not frequently in that situation, so that is an exceptional circumstance. if I break down on the way to Algonquin Park or on the north end, there’s enough traffic that I won’t die from it.
if I remember next week, I’ll try to save one while offline and see what happens
I can tell you that if I use “save as PDF” while online with onedrive not running (whether because I shut it down or because it crashed and didn’t restart itself), the pdf will not show up locally for me
