I switched to Linux a year or two ago. Pretty much every game I’ve played has worked fine. (Elden ring, guild wars 2, nioh2, pillars of eternity…)

Even non-steam stuff was basically click and go with Heroic launcher

Seriously, folks, how hard is it to just walk away?

I read recently that “will power” doesn’t meaningfully exist, but it’s rather the result of many other factors. That said, many people seem to be bankrupt of what one would call willpower. I don’t know why.

Maybe it’s the capitalist hell scape. Maybe it’s the plastic in our bodies. Maybe people are just largely social followers, and with a large enough contingent of idiots many people who would behave better follow down into the slop.

Match group should be broken up.

If the idea is that that’s a no-no because men are sexually attracted to women, then I must remind you that gay people exist.

If the idea is that men cannot be trusted, then there are many other spaces where men have power that should be examined first.

I can’t imagine why I’d want to put on an informational video and not pay attention.

I listen to music at work.

I think a lot of people are only semi-literate, and many of them don’t realize it. They just think reading is kind of hard and uncomfortable, and don’t know why anyone would choose to do it.

You won’t find as many of them on a text-focused medium like here.

Skyrim. It was at best “fine” for me. I really dislike level scaling. The combat felt unsatisfying. I don’t remember the story. It’s not weird like Morrowind. The magic and enchanting was over-simplified.

But for many people it’s their grand joy. So I guess that’s good for them.

Did not expect caves of qud to be on anyone’s list, as I thought it was pretty niche.

I also really wanted to like the game, but it felt oddly empty. I wanted less lost in the wilderness, less static quests, more dynamic stuff to do and explore.

I have much respect for “it’s not fun for me” and less patience for “it’s bad”. Totally understand why you might not find the games fun.

I remember playing it at a friend’s house and thinking “quake is better”, but the four player local play on one game and TV was an overwhelming factor.

Obviously tastes differ. I thoroughly enjoyed it and felt it deserved the praise.

• The setting is original.
• Turn based with Parry/Dodge isn’t original (super Mario RPG) but it’s pretty satisfying here
• The stat/build system is fairly original and gives a lot of depth
• I thought the story was a solid examination of grief

I was on some website the other day and I opened the browser console for unrelated reasons. They had a giant message there that was like “STOP. If someone asked you to paste something here, you are probably going to be hacked. Do not do anything here unless you know what you’re doing.”

Which, admittedly, is probably good advice.

Most people will get mad at someone pointing out their immoral behavior. This is easier on the ego. It’s also childish and weak.

The only good argument I know against veganism/vegetarianism these days is that meat tastes good.

If “the sensory experience is good” is enough of a justification on its own, then a whole lot of other things are coming along for the ride.

Some people get upset when they perceive someone else as being “better” than them. Ego is too fragile to handle this and too brittle to change, so they lash out at the source of discomfort.

They just say stuff for results. They have an emotion and they’ll say whatever supports it, even if they said something contradictory earlier. They are, frankly, stupid and dishonest people.

i am too old to understand “hardcore” as a verb in that sentence. what?

I sort of hate podcasts. I don’t want parasocial relationships. I don’t want to hear in 30 minutes what I could have read in 3, with better options for following up (highlight -> search vs “what did they say? how do you spell that?”)
