I’m glad someone enjoyed it! I don’t think I could cringe as much watching a show as when I was watching that. I’d rather watch Dawson’s Creek or something. There were a lot of elements that could’ve made it great, but it just really felt horrible watching it the whole time. In comparison the weird X-Files reboot was at least kind of fun, Dexter was like watching a trainwreck to me.
No-one’s mentioned Dexter yet, so I’m gonna go ahead and do that. What a shit show. I really don’t get why they brought it back from the dead. Sure the original ending was kind of shitty, but it wasn’t that bad they had to revive it and kill it for good.
Ween saved my life. They’re the best.
Have you seen the Futurama movies? I didn’t even know they existed until this year and I’m trying to decide whether I should see the movies before starting the new season.
I’m going through TOS (nearing the end of season 2) and have been wondering whether I should watch the animated series, leaning on skipping it entirely, is it worth watching? I’m all for animation, but tbh a lot of american animation has left me disappointed.
I tried to read Asimov (by recommendation of my grandpa) as a kid and even though I was big into really heavy, dry philosophy and philosophical books I couldn’t get through any of his books - if you watch Foundation without expecting a great adaptation of the books (which in and of itself would be quite an achievement which I doubt we’ll ever see) it is a pretty great scifi show in my opinion. Certainly piqued my interest in finally reading the books even if it’s nothing like the show, but then again I don’t expect adaptations to be exact replicas of the original work and find that very difference enjoyable.
Well I mean, while Gen-Z humor and memes are mostly a lot more abstract and surreal and while there are elements of that in the beans meme it’s not really just that. It’s a concept piece. In a similar way Warhol’s Campbell’s Soup was and similar pieces of art.
The whole point was to make a point about something, namely, like the title of the post lays it out itself “I heard that lemmy will upvote anything. This is literally just a can of fucking beans”. What it says about the lemmy community, maybe nothing, maybe it’s just a fucking can of beans and there really is no intended or inherent deeper meaning and that is irrelevant really.
My point being, it’s kind of all things you talked about, but even more, but also just beans. Schrödinger’s beans.
Greg does the best impression of Wiseau ever. You can find him read the whole book. It’s hilarious
Ooooh I completely forgot Primer!
Lol, haha, I never thought about that. I used to watch a shit-ton of movies as a teen. Got into horror movies, David Lynch and weird stuff early on so I kind of dove into the deep end very early and with no social life there was a lot of time to watch a lot of stuff.
I seem to be having a phase where I don’t really watch movies that much (series more than ever), but when I do it’s usually kind of “comfort food” so I’m mostly watching all-time favorites over and over again.
The Thing,
Naked Lunch,
Evil Dead 1 & 2,
The Big Lebowski,
Videodrome,
Alien,
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly,
For a Few Dollars More,
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas,
Lost Highway & Mulholland Drive,
The Fountain, Pi, The Holy Mountain, El Topo, Princess Mononoke, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Big Trouble in Little China, The Wicker Man (the og)
And I probably watched Donnie Darko and Ichi the Killer enough times as a teen that they both reach the top
God I watch a lot of movies still.
e:typo, not Donnie Dario
This is such a gut-wrenching song to me. I just wish they’d have done a version without the horrible sax (I play myself and my taste in sax is, I guess super picky) solo.
So I listen to this cover a lot. It doesn’t pack the same punch and you can hear something in Roger’s voice that you just can’t copy.
A great song
