Are you trying to say that cryptocurrency does not have a negative impact?

It was fun at one point. When collective efforts through the currency put the Jamaican bobsleigh team into the olympics. A time before we collectively realized how terrible crypto is both for economy and environment.

Now it’s just sad.

I might be in a minority of this, but using numbers that way breaks my flow for 2 reasons: Firstly, any number of lines greater than around 3 or 4 means I have to stop and manually count. Not that counting to 6 takes a long time, but it does use some mental capacity while I want my mind focused on the actual code. Secondly, I don’t have touch typing in my fingers for the number line on my keyboard. If I need to type a number, I either have to look down at my keyboard, or move my hand over to the numpad. In both cases it would be quicker for me to Vjjjjjy.

I’m completely sure, like 100%, fully positive without a single doubt… that I misspelled it and I would never be able to access the server again.

We used to have a server at my university which a polish guy set up. It received the name brzeczyszczykiewich. We decided that the server was secure enough by name, so we only put a trivial password on it for remote connection.

It works for screws, but as a kid, I was never sure if the clock on the wall should be visualized attached to the ceiling or on the floor when saying “clockwise”. So I was always a bit hessitant on that.

Grab around a screw with your right hand and extend your thumb (like a thumbs up). Then rotating the screw in the direction which your fingers are pointing will result in the screw moving in the direction your thumb is pointing.

Thumbs up for lifting the screw upwards, thumbs down for screwing the screw downwards. And you can move your hand around to figure out screwing directions for any tricky spots.

I’m Norwegian. I never learned a rule in my language and always just went by instinct. Until ~3rd year of university in physics where someone told me tha the right-hand-rule applies to screws. Now I use that everywhere for screws in strange positions.

I applied for a dev position with a salary range with the higher end fitting my requirements. I checked off basically all of the boxes in the job announcement as I had worked as a consultant for that very company in that same position for several years prior. After interviewing rounds and a programming task, the interviewers were very happy with me and were eager to get me started. However, their offer was in the lower ~20% of the salary range. When I asked for the reason, I was told that they had to cut back costs, so they couldn’t afford to pay me more.

So basically, the salary range was just bait to receive applications.

Yes, but I enjoy a lower temperature when I’m feeling warm. ~19 feels good for cooling down after activities in warm weather. And when I’m very cold coming into the car from a blizzard, I might crank it up to 25. My ideal extrenal temperature is dependant on several conditions, it’s not statically 20.

This just adds to the joke, right? 1st world problems being problems which would be wildly undermined if compared to other’s problems.

I don’t know. Maybe you live in a place with low teperature variations. When I get into my car on a hot summer day, I like to turn the temperature down bellow regular comfort temperature to cool down quicker. When I’m stumbling into the car after shoveling snow and scraping ice from the windshield, I like to turn it a bit higher. On long drives, I sometimes get warm after spending several hours in the leather seat, so I turn the temperature down. My girlfriend likes the temperature a bit higher, so when she uses the car, it’s turned up.

It’s a comfort thing, and it’s definitely something I change a lot with my mechanical dials.
