Proton as a product is mostly fine in my opinion, I believe Andy’s opinions and the response from the organization is what people don’t like.
Right now and using NixOS and I’m pretty happy with it, it suffers from There’s More Than One Way To Do It and there are so many options that do the same and the documentation isn’t great.

The Fediverse it’s pretty English-centric and there are very few communities of non-English speakers, even huge languages like Spanish with hundreds of millions of people.

It depends heavily on your hardware and workflow.

I ran away from Bitwarden a few weeks ago due to other controversies and started using GNOME Secrets and KeePassDX. I couldn’t be happier, it’s slightly less convenient but I’m glad I did that.
