  • aww that is truly aww!

Prior to Rygel we had a Boxer named Banjo who eventually developed glaucoma, which is very quickly blinding and painful in dogs. We were referred to a pet eye specialist who had to remove the eye…and then found he had it in the other eye. After months of drops 5 times a day in the good eye to try to save it, he went blind in that one too - and we had a decision to make. The eye specialist convinced us that he could still have a happy life without eyes…and he did - for another 5 whole years! He knew who was around him, he knew where he was in the house (as long as we didn’t move something in the way) and was basically his old self, just with no eyes and the lids sown shut. I’ll never forget the look on the face of the guys working on the electrical box in the back yard when a dog with no eyes came barking and running at them. :O

I’ll always miss him - losing him was tough and we took a break from dogs for a few years, but now I’m so glad to have Rygel to make days happy again in the ways only dogs can.
