Rothe@piefed.socialto History Memes@piefed.social•"The Stasi police knew your cat's name, his birthday, what food he liked, at what hour he sleeps, if he was a comrade..."English20·8 days agoIt has not really a lot to do about that, because that obviously didn’t bother the people who managed to cross.
Apparently not a lot of people are aware of it, but the border between East and West Germany outside of Berlin was heavily guarded, with a much larger deadman’s zone than in Berlin, so much so that it was actually easier to attempt to cross the Berlin Wall instead, as risky as that was.

It’s an incel meme. You shouldn’t think too hard about it.
Monolingual native English speakers are constantly being surprised about basic universal linguistic concepts, while proceeding to think it is exceptional to the only language they are familiar with.
Thank god for censoring “stole”. I don’t know what I would have done had I been able to read that word.
Same with the “depressed middle-aged dads”.
Someone who knows about this sort of thing should change this meme into the guy in the first panel just saying this meme.
Especially pointless since the plates are literally the easiest part to clean.
Ah, dice lawyering.
Rothe@piefed.socialto History Memes@piefed.social•"Isn't it funny there are so many Jews in the only sectors we let them work in?" - Most intelligent historical antisemiteEnglish12·17 days agoIn Catholicism during medieval times, it was forbidden for Christians to lend money with interest (based on selective interpretation of the Bible). Jews would of course be exempt from that, so it was a nice workaround, because there was no ban on Christians lending money from Jews. This enabled Jews to get an early foothold in the finance industry before banking was even really a thing.
Combined with the already mentioned ban on Jews working in most professions in Christian countries well into early modern times (many places until the 19th century in fact), it was a pretty natural development that many Jews entered this profession.
It is definitely also a question of quality. Not just because the concept of food safety was non-existant back then, but if we are talking about a really poor person, the bread and cheese (and mostly there would be no cheese at all) would be stale, the wine full of dregs, but watered down so much that they would barely be able to taste how vinegary it was.
A lot of people didn’t get your reference it seems.

Noone would have written like that. That is a printing typeface. Handwritten fraktur is very different. Anyway the writing in OPs picture is medieval, while the printing typeface is obviously early modern, 17th-19th cenutry.
And in this case the tool of literal slave corporations.
