These are great till you live somewhere with shitty electric. On the days when my ecig takes 6 hours to charge I can’t cook as the hot plate won’t even turn on. Fucking slumlords.

Inverted World by Christopher Priest is kinda this.
That is a beautiful photo!
Nah all that happens then is I sleep for 20 hours a day and eventually start reading books again. I tried this when I couldn’t pay my phone bill.
Don’t be a bigot. Tall girls are awesome.
*(Also in case you weren’t being a bigot and were instead referring to what it’s really like to work in tech: I do know industry isn’t entierly cat girls in coding socks but most of the computers for career people I’ve known have been, so I choose to believe.)
It involves a lot of tall girls in thigh high socks, sometimes they wear cat ears too. And they do a lot of typing on extra clackity keyboards.
Wow, they really are odd birds! Theory: Pel’s are such an apex predator that they don’t need to be quiet or camouflaged anymore, and moved those points over to looking kinda flash (for an owl) instead?
Also that owl in the third picture looks like a thumb with a suspicious face drawn on it, haha.
Thank you for all the owls, and for looking stuff up to answer all the questions. I really appreciate people with interesting obsessions who want to share what they love with others.
Any idea why it’s so light coloured for a nocturnal owl? That’s an interesting adaptation.
(Guessing it’s nocturnal by the black eyes)
Edit: just remembered Barn Owls are nocturnal too and yet are light coloured. I’ve never actually thought this through before. Evolution is fascinating.
Don’t let him round your kids. He treated you terribly and hasn’t changed, you shouldn’t expose your children to someone like that. It doesn’t matter if he’s your dad.
From the title I was expecting some kind of blanket hole and/or wiggly elongated cat. I feel mildly deceived.

Might wanna look into OCD then. That sort of mentally torturing yourself is very OCD, so is the belief that if you do it often enough/just right, it will protect you and your community from harm.
You sure you don’t have OCD there bud?
That top photo is the sort of look you give someone when they’ve just said something very stupid and you’re trying not to laugh before they do, just in case they were being serious.
I vote Hawk Owl. I like it’s triangle brow and M shaped face, and that it looks smart enough to be as pissed off as it looks (which I know is anthropomorphising but grumpy owls are adorable).
Honestly, I find most of the small brown owls look too similar to me, while the Hawk Owl looks very unique and I like it’s badass attitude.
This is a good point. You have swayed me.
This is hard! They both look like cats.
If I was going by the photos in the main post, it would be the Long Eared Owl as that smug expression is so charming.
But over all, I think the gormless innocence and sheer beauty of the Buffy Fish Owl has won me over this round. Their apricot coloured plumage is very pretty too.
Those massive eyes!
If paired against a less famous (and derpy looking) owl, this BLowl would likely have had my vote for how unproportionally large and pretty it’s eyes are. Alas.
Barn owl. I like that burnt marshmallow colour pattern and how derpy their head shape is.
Sorry to the BLOwl!
I bought a new netbook last year to watch stuff on as my old one from like 10 years ago finally fell apart.
I fucking hate the new Windows so much and I’m not techy enough to change the operating system to something better, so I barely use it as watching stuff on my phone is easier.
