More and more I remember Kreia telling The Exile that “apathy is death”.

Nah, this one’s OFFFICIALLY non-governmental and just makes “suggestions”. Because you can’t just create new departments, nor get rid of them, without Congressional approval.
Phones are arguably some of the most powerful consumer cameras ever built. That Nikon or Canon might have more funny buttons and settings, but your phone camera is pretty powerful on its own.
For those thinking “well this couldn’t include things like the military”, it ABSOLUTELY CAN AND WILL. The GOP wanted someone who will run the country like a business, AND THIS is how business is run now - absorb a company, strip it for parts to sell off, move onto the next company, repeat. “The next company” here being, likely, another country.
AND you have two other great mages to hang around with, so you can combo off each other real easy.
Ehhh, there’s still lively debate, but the general consensus is that the whole “we’ll deport the Jews/undesirables” thing was mostly a smokescreen, and the plan was always to either place them in work camps or kill the ones that couldn’t work. The camps came AFTER a lengthy campaign of extermination against “useless eaters” such as the elderly, the chronically ill, and the mentally and physically disabled, which was billed as “well they’re a huge drain on state resources.”
I think it’ll wind up as slavery. Instead of actually deporting huge numbers of people, they’ll go “wow so it turns out that’s really hard” and use them as prison labor instead. You don’t have to pay prison laborers.
Trump has promised, in VERY few uncertain terms, to deliver a genocide here in the US. Mass deportations of immigrants were one of his big “to-dos” on day one, including deputizing National Guard and police units to assist ICE. This is combined with an AG hopeful who wants to “see Democrat politican’s bodies dragged through the streets”, and Steve Bannon, who helped author a document that basically plans to outlaw homosexuality, being transgender, and (probably) conversion camps, if not outright death camps. You can look all this up, it’s all been well reported on.
This is on top of Trump being close friends with Netanyahu, so congrats - by not voting, you voted for two genocides.
Courting racists is effective because disillusioned leftists DO TEND to metamorphose into racists and fascists over the long term. They get upset their party and politics are stagnating, get upset at the lack of political traction, and wind up eventually blaming other people. You see it more often in young people, but it definitely happens.
The big issue is that Trump could’ve gotten onstage and started telling stories from Lake Woebegone for two and a half hours and a large portion of his cult would’ve hailed it as a masterstroke of political theory.
Ah, but it works both ways. One great way to radicalize young men is sexual frustration (see: incels). The right has mastered this FAR better than the left ever thought about it.
Nah, Reagan did it easy. Plenty of people will be totally ok with banning guns if THOSE PEOPLE start carrying and using them.
Arguably he’s done that one over and over in his speeches, and with the Central Park Five, and with the other people I’m sure he’s fantasized about killing over the years.
“Dumb person who has been promised some sort of high-power administrative position in the incoming US presidential administration” changes the math a bit.
Nah, the 25th just means he’s physically or mentally unfit to perform the office. At the least, I expect Vance to be a shadow president.
I honestly think he’ll get 25th’d out of office pretty soon after the inauguration, and then JD Vance will take over.
If you had actually ASKED the Sioux of the Black Hills about this, you’d know they’ve told pretty much everyone “yeah we don’t like Mt Rushmore, we don’t like Crazy Horse’s relief carving either, but we think destroying them is more disrespectful than just leaving them to fall apart on their own.” Like, this isn’t an uncommon thought. It’s just more complex than “blow them up”.
Oh that’s an easy dodge. A lot of these people think Trump is either a prophet of the Lord, a devout agent (think David or Solomon), or Jesus Christ Himself.
They’re a US “comfort food” type restaurant - meatloaf, steaks, etc. Their aesthetic likes to hearken back to an old restaurant in the 1800s, all barn-wood panels and such. Unfortunately, they’ve also proven pretty discriminatory in their practices - in addition to the segregation lawsuit another commenter brought up, they had to be sued to rescind a policy disallowing LGBTQ+ workers in 1991, and there was a pretty notorious incident in 2018 where a Black bus driver got thrown out for simply ordering food at a Cracker Barrel (the staff there referred to Black people by the code phrase “Canadians”). They’re also still the subject of a class-action suit for violating the Fair Labor Standards Act (in 2021), and they also keep getting embroiled in sexual harassment suits.
She’d better get the ball rolling fast. States are already looking at their divorce laws anticipating that no-fault divorce will get SCOTUS’d.
