I went to join Planet Fitness, they insist on an app. They watched me leave. Kroger charged more than advertised, ooooh it was a digital coupon only available through the app. I left the item with the cashier. Order out? Only on an app? I guess I didn’t want to eat that so much anyway.

Edit to add: I don’t know how we are going to deal with apps that are forced upon you, that feels really gross especially if you are younger, like at your school. Forced commodification should be illegal.

Not going to do it, it feels controlling and abusive and I’ve worked too damn hard to let that shit go on.

If I bought insurance I’d be paying way more than I pay out of pocket for my routine healthcare because I’d never meet the deductable, and being insured , the visit would be priced higher. I pay a cash price that is lower . If some catastrophic injury occurred, I couldn’t afford it insured or not so fuck it. I also live accordingly , I think we all do consciously or unconsciously, live with a certain amount of fear of financial ruin due to sickness or injury. Instead if eating the rich, they are apparently eating us.

Aye, I left when they started up their bs in Canada. I will very grudgingly turn it on once Three Body Problem is out and then turn it right back off. Or even, if I can buy TBP from another streamer or DVD , I’ll wait and do that. This greedy crap from Netflix is personal to me. So sick of greed.

Egregious is the perfect word, I can only add that the adds are offensively stupid as well, and loud. I’ve been clicking back and forth until the content comes on but now it’s three times at least. I’ll install one of these ad blockers now but the real problem still isn’t solved. I’d love to leave the platform altogether but don’t know of an alternative. I tried PeerTube at one point but that was a dumpster fire , at least at the time I peeked in.

The other thing I hate about YT is the obvious click baiting the platform does, over the creators wishes. If I’m not clicking on any of the videos, the thumbnail images get weirder and crazier until I just leave the whole mess. Anyone else noticed this? It’s like they are convinced this will gain more engagement and maybe it does but I hate it and feel manipulated and degraded by it.
