Speaking for my favorite game of all time, New Vegas, you need to push through until you find something that captures your attention. There’s nothing you can really reach in the first 2 hours (for a first play through) that will pop out at you. But once you get that first “whoa” moment, you’re completely immersed. But you definitely need to be a patient gamer in the beginning, because a vast desert provides a lot of empty, forlorn landscape (a lot of people hate this, but I love the desolate atmosphere).
Even if they manage to get big players like Spotify to develop apps for them, a lot of people - at least on the Android side - have smaller, niche apps for audiobooks and podcasts that would never bother to port their apps to GM services. Heck, even Apple Music and YouTube Music wouldn’t bother. I smell an upcoming BOGO deal on their overstocked dealerships, just before they get another bailout check.
I’m a big fan of Podcast Republic. Great dev, feature-rich, and a much improved UI from when I first started using it.
Great dev too! I suggested a few improvements awhile back, and not only did he respond back, he had it implemented within the next update. And a one time payment instead of a subscription, which automatically makes this highly customizable app better than most of its peers.
Late to the party since I just finished the book last night, but I absolutely loved it! Probably my favorite of the second series, and it recaptured a lot of the original trilogy’s charm.
[SPOILERS] That ending dealt such a melancholic blow that I couldn’t do much else the rest of the evening. The entire storyline of their reunion was just so perfectly written, like almost the rest of Brown’s work.
He didn’t start adding new perspectives until his second set of series, but I totally agree. I thought it was such a refreshing take to only focus on a single character in such an open and expansive world, but after finishing Light Bringer last night, I promise that it’s completely worth it! It recaptured the original trilogy’s essence in such a masterful way.
I was coming to this thread to answer the same. New Vegas was probably my favorite game of all time, with it’s unique charm and creative blend of stories and character mechanics. I couldn’t make it past 5 or 6 hours of the FO4 (I really wanted to give it a chance), before I dropped it for good. Bethesda wanted to make an action shooter with a twist, and they did a good job of that, but it lacked the creative “it” factor that made me sink 600+ hours in NV across multiple playthroughs. Just talking about it makes me want to boot it back up right now!
There’s something about looking at a neatly prepared table full of breakfast foods, pastries, and coffee that brings me a sense of joy.
I promise the teen angst evaporates quickly! I honestly believe it was meant to dissipate as the main character’s perspective gets rocked to the realities of life. And by book 2, it’s as somber and grim as anything GRR Martin would write!
Shouldn’t the author of Red Rising be Pierce Brown? But I can’t wait to listen to it! Just waiting to finish the last book of the Stormlight Archives first!
The Expanse and Red Rising series is exactly what he’s looking for! Also the Bobbiverse is a decent addition!
Me too! Although the audiobook version. Hoping to finish this one before the audiobook version of Red Rising #7 comes out!
Interesting. I LOVE the feeling of nostalgia. It brings me back to a simpler and more peaceful time, when adult responsibilities and modern complexities didn’t exist yet. Whenever a late 90s/early 2000’s R&B song comes on, I’m automatically transported back in time and just relish in its bliss.
Only to start off with the main quest and follow their instruction to start. It leads to you interest points, and you can gradually explore on your own from there. Talk to all the named characters you come across and check out everything you can. The scenic story telling is absolutely fantastic, especially once you soak in all the little details!
