and the whole website is pressed against the left side which would be alright if we would still use 19" 4:3 CRTs at max.

Technology@lemmy.world•‘Digital ownership must be respected’: UK parliament debates Stop Killing Games campaign, but government doesn’t budgeEnglish
1761·9 days agoMost of the responses of the ministers(?) covered in the article seem to be pretty solid.
But then:
Responding to the arguments, the government’s representative, minister for sport, tourism, civil society and youth, Stephanie Peacock MP, acknowledged consumer sentiment behind Stop Killing Games, but suggested there were no plans to amend UK law around the issue.
“The Government recognises the strength of feeling behind the campaign that led to the debate,” she said. “The petition attracted nearly 190,000 signatures. Similar campaigns, including a European Citizens’ Initiative, reached over a million signatures. There has been significant interest across the world.”
She continued: “At the same time, the Government also recognises the concerns from the video gaming industry about some of the campaign’s asks. Online video games are often dynamic, interactive services—not static products—and maintaining online services requires substantial investment over years or even decades.”
Peacock claimed that because modern video games were complex to develop and maintain, implementing plans for games after support had ended could be “extremely challenging” for companies and risk creating “harmful unintended consequences” for players.
Handing online servers over to consumers could carry commercial or legal risks, she said, in addition to safety concerns due to the removal of official company moderation.
On the subject of ownership, Peacock claimed that video games being licensed to consumers, rather than sold, was not a new phenomenon, and that “in the 1980s, tearing the wrapping on a box to a games cartridge was the way that gamers agreed to licensing terms.”
“Licensing video games is not, as some have suggested, a new and unfair business practice,” she claimed.
Yeah, full on corpo spin. Fuck her.
Probably came out of a easter lamb form for normally cake.
Why did i never came across this masterpiece?
Ooooh, because its the gayest movie i’ve ever saw. Its gay af.
But yeah, it holds up. Had a blast watching it after the trailer. It has the german je ne sais quoi i normally miss in german productions. Just the way people talk is already fucking refreshing. Its still scripted but not that stilted ‘TV-language’ nobody talks like in RL which surely is a phenomenon you know of from your mothertongue.
Apart from that its a greatly crafted intentional B-Movie with great sets, camera work, lighting, acting, premise, characters and script. IDK how the comedy hits for non-germans since its very german coded. But in a good way. Just tons of tiny tidbits of relatable punches at our culture unlike seen almost all of the time on our linear tv screen.
Oh yeah, motherfucking H.R. Giger was creative consultant on this movie. Like whaaaaat?! Also seeing fucking Iris Berben in this movie and ham her acting up to a perfect level was insane. Like i dont give a shit about the german movie landscape but Iris Berben is a name even I recognize.
Anyway. 9/10 Movie. Thanks @CubitOom@infosec.pub
edit: lmao, that james bond coded outro song about killer condoms while the credits role is also fucking great.
Why did i never came across this masterpiece? This might be very best trailer for a german movie i have ever seen. I hope the movie itself lives up to the trailer. Must be atleast a decade i was excited to see a german movie.
Thanks. Gonna check it out.

5·2 months agoWhat? ‘IF?’ ?? JUST TELL ME YOU STUFFED FUCK!!!
Fair, but your real life constelation is pretty different to a videogame.
Eh, i got over it pretty fast. But in the end i was really happy about that experience since in gave me introspection about myself. More than i would ever expect from a fucking shooty video game with light rpg elements.
NGL, happened to me exactly like that. It was a bit ‘unpleasent’ as in the unknown can be pretty scary. Like i’m fairly open and especially dont give a fuck what anybody else does. But the first person depiction of same sex… sex was pretty intimate in that game. Yeah, i like to see myself as _progressive _ and open but i’m still an average cis white male gamer. I’m mature enough to admit that it challengend me. I’ve never seen something like that. It was my first time. Dont get me wrong i still dont have anything against LGBTQ+. In the end i handled it as dumb as it sounds. But tbh i never saw somebody talk about that? Like i still want to be an ally but experiencing _gay _ stuff kinda first hand still was weird.

3·2 months agoTo me it looks like fashion lifestyle gadget and not a camera. Its a shitty digital camera combined with an integrated printer. I dont think it will last decades. Beginning with the integrated battery. All of which would be allright but ~330€ is a steep pricepoint. You could get very similar results by getting yourself a smartphone from the last ten years for free or very cheap and combine it with some apps and a canon selphy printer. Or get rid of the printer and get the pictures developed in the next shop. Unless the instant aspect is crucial for you ofcourse. With all that money you could buy even a cheap lomo camera and some film. Or a m3/4 Olympus/Panasonic camera from the last decade to play around with. They had funky lenses too. Idk how good the market for 3rd party batteries is though. idk lots of different opportunities at the same time to get creative and still be within the budget of that single fuji which on top has pretty expensive ongoing costs with that instant film.
That would be my thoughts on it.

I killed several really well going conversations in the past by mentioning that one of my hobbies is to play racing games with my plastic toywheel.
Like dont get wrong i’m fully aware that its not a sexy hobby. But if thats enough to tank an otherwise well going conversation for you then i’m not interested either way.

8·2 months agoThats the thing with Ubisoft. They dont make offensively bad games. They’re mostly just bland. What sells them (for me) are pretty unique settings and cool broader concepts. Thats probably that french je ne sais quoi which pulls in (my) attention. But everything else just falls apart if you’re a bit more into games. You know, i dont want to use the ‘G’ word. I dont want to make the case for the distinction between casuals and hArDcoRe - there it is - gAmeRS.
But Ubisoft games just still feel soooo formulaic. Even when they kinda try to remedy that fact. Yeah, they try to clutter the map with less interest points. Yeah, they stopped making you climb towers to populate said maps with interest points. But it still feels like made by committee. That corporate smoothing stone is just there. I’ve seen and resent this shit too many times because i buy more games than just the most current yearly COD/FIFA/AssCreed iteration.Atleast gameplaywise i could handle it. But my biggest gripe personally is just the utterly shit writing in Ubisoft games. Its just soooo bad IMHO. They cant tell a compelling story. It always feels like an afterthought to the gameplay which already isnt landing for me.
Like yeah, SW Outlaws is an above average and alright AAA title. But i just cant anymore after 15 years of the same shit with the same patterns. At some point it had to break the camels back.

me after a whole bag of cheetos.
