I think more than directly chemical, a lot of my depression and anxiety symptoms were due to not knowing what to do about constantly feeling a little physiologically bad at all times.

My ADHD gives me this like, in the same way sadness can hurt physically, physical sense of not being stimulated enough. But I don’t really find like stimming helps it so I used to just kinda feel, as I would describe it, that every passing second was like a grinding stone(from like a mill) was turning right between my eyes and on my center forehead. Not painful as that would be, but just a negative and constant awareness of time passing.

So between RSD, emotional dysregulation and whatever that sympyom would be called, I think I was basically just using anxiety/sadness as a more pleasant place to be than that and an explanation for why I felt bad and eventually it became habit/engrained.

Between cognitive behavioral therapy and then the meds, I think I just stabilized enough to realize I was kinda helping rather than fighting the depression/anxiety.

I still have depressed periods of a few days to a few weeks, but they’re mild and I notice as I am going through them and when I am out.

And I still catch myself thinking anxious thoughts or worrying about how I am perceived or misunderstandings, but it’s possible, even easy often, for me to simply realize I’m having more anxiety that day, and write it all off/stop focusing on it.

I was started on 30mg Vyvanse because I basically went to my doctor and said: “I need meds so I can work again like now or I’m gonna be homeless my guy” and it’s been wonderful for me. I take a 10mg booster mid-day also.

It lets me do the house tasks and work 25 hours a week without falling apart. It reduced my anxiety and depression sympyoms to the point I don’t feel held back by them. It used to help make it easier to think and make my hobbies enjoyable again as well but now less so.

I asked to go to 40mg in the morning so we’ll see how that goes. Hoping it improves my enjoyment of things I wanna do.

As far as side effects it’s just a bit hard to empty my bladder at times.

  • Lithium ion batteries cannot super accurately report their own charge so the percentage isn’t necessarily digit accurate.

I am also usually just making sure it’ll get me to a place I can charge it when I actually need to worry about charge. That doesn’t usually require like the difference between say 33% and 26% for me.

I just need to be able to see if I’ve got like a fifth of battery left or less / more.

Admitedly also with the ADHD if there’s a percentage I fixate on it for no reason so it’s less annoying for me to have it off.

Same with the battery level in my e-bike. 👀 I know it’ll get me to work and back as it always does but not constantly fixating on the remaining battery is impossible.

  • Yeah my go to is rotisserie chicken, canned corn, and the pre-made refrigerated mashed potatoes.

I gotta start breaking down the chicken and portioning the meals at the start of the week though because even that when I get home at the end of a day is like, damn. I gotta open a can of corn, take about half, take a third or so of potato container, cut or rip the chicken off the bone, put it on a plate microwave it, season it. Like damn.

  • I’ve got a (very old) Logitech G602, and you don’t even need to cross the battery in that. It will work with a battery in either slot or both. Always thought that was nice because before rechargables where it doesn’t matter, usually if you used each battery separately after they stopped working together, you’d get a bit more use from them.

  • I really should get over myself and start doing this. I do on occasion when I’m really struggling. But for whatever reason, maybe just mental obstinance, my brain really wants like a main and two sides on a plate with a nice drink. Otherwise it feels like it’s not gonna check the “eaten a meal” box considering I eat mostly out of habit and less from ever actually getting a signal I am hungry.

  • Between cognitive behavioral therapy and meds, I can work 25 hours a week and still generally keep-up my apartment as long as I’m not in a funk.

I still be eating wwwaaaayyyyy too much fast food though. Don’t even want fast food. At a point it’s kinda mentally gross even if physically very satisfying. Just don’t wanna cook. You’re telling me I gotta cook and then EAT TOO? I have ibs so 90% of frozen and fast-prep options are out. :(
