I listen to mostly death metal and my wife is into musicals. Its really not an issue. I have gone with her to Book of Mormon (a musical), she has gone with me to metal shows… actually she used to get me back stage to several (she worked catering). Neither of us is going to choose to play the others music when we are by ourselves, but we can find a little common ground regardless.

They are actively against SEL which is the stupidest thing I can imagine. The only thing I could imagine worse is feeding your kids lead paint chips.

71·4 months agoI’m not trying to be argumentative. I am trying to eat closer to vegan diet for a variety of reasons. That said, its not hard to raise chickens and treat them well. My biggest problem is my daughters trying to hug them when they are clearly getting irritated.

ADHD@lemmy.world•ADHD drugs don’t work the way we thoughtEnglish
191·4 months agoI suspect most adults have some coping mechanisms built up so its often harder to separate out the basic problems. Children offer a ‘cleaner’ study, so that is what they focus on.
I have to say my 6 year old has a lot of symptoms. I started giving her melatonin to help her sleep and a lot of the behavioral issues have gotten a lot better.
I’m not trying to say its a cure all, but I was surprised how well it helps her sleep, and how many (I thought) unrelated issues have improved.
I am very impressed about your directness and take charge attitude. Your approach of bring others in to help you accomplish your goals really speaks of future CEO material to me.

9·5 months agoRampage was actually a good (if fucked up) movie.
Back when I had free time, I watched a lot of bad movies. Good bad (Tromeo and Juliet ) bad bad (BloodRayne). Just about everything of Boll’s falls into the second bucket, but Rampage is in neither. I don’t want to oversell this, but its an above average movie.
Underline used to be manual proofreader markup for something that was supposed to be italicized.

3·6 months agoStarted rewatching it because of this comment. It’s an ok movie. Not great but not bad per se. The eyes are an aesthetic choice and fit in with the rest of the movie, don’t bother me.
Of course I’m a sucker for most scifi, I even consider Jupiter Ascending a guilty pleasure and watched both parts of Rebel Moon. Those are objectively bad movies. Oh, and Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets. Great guilty pleasure.
A movie doesn’t have to be great to be enjoyable.

2·6 months agoyeah, the back end is the scarier part. I don’t think conservapedia actually added that much content, it just copied Wikipedia and edited the parts they cared about. Automating that, while helpful, isn’t that big a deal IMO. Disseminating the resultant bullshit (with a hint of plausibility) is where the nightmares begin.

What are you talking about. the upper can brace against a backward force because it has steps behind him. The lower cant. Plus the lower has to lift their lance upward while the upper needs to lift it less. The high ground has a clear advantage here.
I had a friend tell me her strategy on unsolicited dick picks was to respond with pictures of other dicks in shoes. Often coupled with comments akin to ‘you couldn’t pull off these stilettos, but maybe you could try a kitten heel.’
This is not the face of a man who just won an eating challenge.

my kid was playing on a swing in a community park in a neighboring town (an expensive place to live). She found a big baggie of cash, looked like mostly singles, but it was maybe 2" thick. I told her to put it back and not mess with it. Maybe it was someones birthday money, maybe it was some other nefarious source. no matter what I don’t need that in my life, I definitely don’t need my kid dealing with it.
