For folks with ADHD, like myself, slow talking video essays are a special kind of hell.
Glitchy things and video games. What even is anything anymore?

The problem with days old threads is I never remember the context. Looks like they were asking if Steams data would be more reliable. Tbh, I think Steam is great for gaming stats, not for general use stats. Statcounter supposedly uses what the browser reports when participating websites are visited.
I’m happy to see more Linux gamers don’t get me wrong. Steam is specifically gathering specs on people who game, the other stat counter (that reports 4% Linux use) is based on what people’s browsers are reporting.
Steam is only installed on one of my computers, I have at least four running Linux. Not to mention plenty of Linux users don’t game at all, so probably not.
“If you wish to empty your bladder, fill my food dish and make me fatter.”
I think it’s less the network’s fault, and more on where someone chooses to spend their time on the network. If you’re on Facebook, it is in their interest to piss you off so you stay and fight. But plenty of other tools exist to connect folks online without being manipulative.
It’s like fire, nuclear energy, or most any other tool. Use it right and everyone benefits, use it wrong and people get hurt.
When I was younger I wasn’t sad because I was online, I was online because I was sad and felt out of place in reality.
The cough isn’t the cause of the cold, it’s a symptom.
Also, I gained more empathy the older I got. So you probably need a bigger data set than your own experiences.

This appears to be more geared towards experimentation. Super interesting and more relevant to the article for sure though!
In 1973 the U.S. Supreme Court rejected the Hippocratic Oath saying it didn’t cover the latest developments in medical practice.
I’m just… gonna go scream into a pillow in the corner now.
YO LISTEN UP HERE’S A STORY

Not every game needs PvP. Helldivers is more of a wave shooter with it’s design intent, so players are scaled to numerous weaker foes, not other players. Balancing for PvP would be a pain, and unnecessary since there are a ton of PvP third-person shooters already.
So this comment made me do some research.

Under “Known Proton Issues” the point “Anti cheat”. Seems like there is a user-space solution for Proton, avoiding the need for a kernel-space anti cheat.
It’s not perfect, and be as paranoid as you see appropriate, but I’m a bit relieved to have found that info. Another win for Proton in my book.
No wonder Bandai Namco are making big statements about game quality. They just lost their golden goose.
I think you’re missing the point.
When someone is outwardly hateful toward others for things outside of their control (race, gender, ability), that’s generally viewed as intolerance.
Tolerance, is me recognizing you have the right to believe whatever you want, and letting you do so, as long as you’re not obstructing anyone else’s right to do the same.
The paradox is basically saying a negative reaction to a hateful behavior, is not itself hateful. Identity politics doesn’t agree, and makes those who identify as hateful (knowingly or not), feel hated.
Violence is a further escalation of things that the concept of tolerance inherently tries to avoid.
Can you provide any examples of this? Not sure what point you’re trying to make here.
If you tolerate intolerance, intolerance will rule. It’s literally a paradox by definition.
Ah yes, I forgot folks with ADHD are also insane. /s
