Mastodon and miskey are interface’s to the same open public protocol.
Bluesky is another, largely private, twitter like microblog. That can, but may never in a significant sense allow something close to what the fediverse does.

Evan Prodromou and the Social Web Working Group (SocialWG) of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) are the creators of ActivityPub
Not desalines or any ML controlled group. All they did was create a Reddit like interface to the platform. After being driven from Reddit for their intolerance.
I sometimes post from Mastodon to servers running this and other software. In fact the reason I’m on world. Is specifically due to its relation to mastodon.social. one of the bigger Mastodon instances I use. It’s got nothing to do with a software. If Rud and the other admins decided tomorrow to migrate the database to a different backend. I don’t think there would be much outrage or many people would care. In fact I’m certainly probably will in the future. As soon as a back end is available that provides significantly better Community / magazine moderating tools. Since I will significantly whiten the load on server administrators. Since things can be done at the community level instead of at the server all the time.
Just gonna put this out there. The devs push their stance plenty. Within their scope to do it from their echo chamber. Other than stopping development there’s little they could currently do to impact growth in any way. And there have been issues with their development focus that have negatively impacted growth. Recalcitrance to focus much on moderation tools for instance. As well as at least reported issues difficulty contributing to the project by others. Though that at least is hearsay.
A few things. Communism isn’t Marxist leninism. Communism isn’t authoritarian. And it’s not just Stalin and Mao. It’s literally everywhere Marxist leninism has ever been attempted. Communism is a classless stateless society. Therefore a Marxist leninist government will never become communist. Because they are defined by their class separation of those with political power and those without, and the strong overbearing presence of the state.
There’s nothing objectionable to Communism whatsoever. And no one should have any qualms about defending it ever. What we should question is why one group of authoritarians the Marxist leninist desire to be so closely tied to it. And another group of authoritarians the capitalists demand everyone be afraid of it.
While they are and will continue to be a scam. It is at least a step up from a guy dancing around in a spandex suit like the announcement was
After all the fud and opposition they’ve pushed against it over the years. It’s nice to see them finally do things to help it.
Quick edit to add that it couldn’t come at a better time now that there are companies like system 76 out there. Making Linux compatible systems that ship with Linux that you can actually recommend to someone who is a novice to pick up. They may be on a more expensive side. But what’s your privacy worth?
Why would you think it was negative? My only guess would be the way Leninists like to cosplay as Communists. And the way the west likes to smear communists by associating them with leninists.
The first sentence addressed what they talked about. It’s great as an assistant to cut through documentation to get at what you need. In fact, here’s a recent video from Perry Fractic doing just that with microtext for the C64.
Anything else like having it generate the code itself, it’s more of a liability than an asset. Since it doesn’t really understand what its doing.
Perhaps I should have separated the two thoughts initially? Either way I’ve said my piece.
It’s great for regurgitating pre written text. For generating new or usable code it’s largely useless. It doesn’t have an actual understanding of what it says. It can recombine information and elements its seen before. But not generate anything truly unique.
Who in their right Minds would want to be a nerd but not a venture brothers fan?
Well running a server and no longer interacting with a service can be two different things. From an organizational standpoint I could absolutely understand them not wanting or needing the expense of another service to maintain. Even for just their own use. As long as they still have accounts and post to the fediverse. I don’t see a big issue
Absolutely. It just depends a lot on the game of course. A blueray disk can contain over 100 GB. But a game could be split over several disks too. It was rather common to do that with CDs on the original PlayStation.
If a party is viable they strictly speaking aren’t a spoiler. 3rd party wise in the US. 3rd party candidates in local elections are great. In my state there are plenty of offices Republicans run for uncontested. I would vote sight unseen for any non Republican aligned candidate running against them.
National elections… 3rd parties running here can’t help but be spoilers. First there’s 50 separate sub elections they have to qualify for in the first place. Most don’t even qualify for half that at best. So they’ve already lost. Then on the off chance they somehow won one.(never really happened in 250 years) There’s the EC system and delegates. Some states are winner take all, some proportional. And while they’re supposed to vote to represent the states population. Faithless electors are a thing. Meaning 3rd parties just lost harder.
Its something like a .00000001% chance with an over 6 sigma confidence rating. You have better odds of getting struck by lightning multiple times while dancing the Macarena.
Calorie event?! Why not just call it a doughnut.
Depends a bit on the type of person and content you want to follow. But if you like retro computer Shenanigans etc. I know action retro is on Lemmy and Mastodon and I follow them on mastodon. But yes General content for the normies probably not so much.
It was definitely different from a lot of the young adult content out at the time or since. I was a bit more meh about it. Partially because it was one of those things that was a good part about the famous actors lending their voice. And not voice actors. the animation was well done, story was well written and the acting Stars did well for the roles. But it was just also at a time when I was just kind of drifting away from Cartoon Network and even adult swim. The energy of the 90s and early auts had long been gone.
Now that one I had seen. Though it’s been almost a decade now I think. But I remember Cartoon Network airing it in segments during Halloween one year.
Sure but that is the Indie space. They’ve always done their own thing. The Last Unicorn was a theatrical release with wide home video distribution as well. It’s great to see Indy’s getting more exposure and coverage these days but I’d like to see even the large more commercial offerings offering a little more along this line. Of course I’m also an irrepressible bakshi fan. So there is that too. And modern day Hollywood would never touch that
No I had not. I will have to check it out later. Another unusual but good children’s animated classic was recently rediscovered a few years back. A 1977 Raggedy Ann movie was scanned from an old 16 mm print I think? And put up on YouTube and good quality. The last time it had ever been released was on VHS back in the early 90s. I think it was thought lost.
Who did you think we were? This is who we’ve always been. They’re just getting comfortable taking the mask off again. Trust me, my grandmother and other family were put through the racist indian boarding schools. Common throughout the US and Canada. You know, the ones they keep finding mass graves on. The more things change, the more they stay the same. Just more subtle, less in your face.
Most people thought are too distracted with bread and circuses to care however.
