In the UK where healthcare is free, I remember my parents got me a private diagnosis, because NHS waiting times are an absolute fucking joke (I was due to be waiting years for an assessment), we ended up waiting about 8-9 months since my referral for my assessment during which my parents went through some bs parenting course.

The overall cost was about £2-3k for the diagnosis itself and for receiving prescribed medication the state bears most of the cost leaving prescription meds much cheaper (and free for people under 16 and students under 19) so until I turned 19 they were free after which prescription meds costed £9.90 as is every other prescription nationwide.

Refills are simple enough, you notify your prescribing dr when you’re running low and they should renew your prescription (providing your timing isn’t suspicious) since they are obviously controlled substances.

  • I relate to the excessive punishment sho, I was kicked out of multiple schools, even though I didn’t do too bad academically. But my thoughts on having children, as much as I’ve thought about it as an idea, not ever seriously, it’s something that obviously requires all of your time, effort and a huge commitment, and I worry about whether I am actually able to raise my yute the way I would want myself to, as much as we’d all want to raise our kids to achieve the things we weren’t able to.

I understand how me having ADHD makes my future kids more genetically predisposed to having it as well, but I personally worry less about that than how I myself am able to raise them, since having ADHD myself I’d be able to pick up symptoms much earlier and try my hardest give them the support I never got for most of my childhood.

  • Wouldn’t personally call it disabled, moreso disadvantaged mentally, setback. Unlike disabled people we’re more than capable of doing most things, it’s just a mental hurdle to do the same things as a NT with the same efficiency. Kind of like being left handed in a right handed world mentally but 10x worse, society doesn’t seem to be able to cope or bear with people with ADHD very well.

  • I hate to be that guy, but realistically AI’s not going to be perfect, there’s already cases of it “inbreeding” using AI-generated information in training data, and it’s due to get worse, especially if more information on the internet is vibe-written using AI, that’s why private AI companies know how detrimental a “dead internet” would be to them.

Those people who believe in the “dead internet theory” don’t understand the diff between the internet and socials, it’s more of a “dead social media theory” which, let’s be real is true, it’s not that difficult to recreate a lot of the slop posted on that godforsaken centralised shithole part of the net.
