Valve is far from perfect but I for one still have access to the movies I bought on Steam even after they delisted them. They’re winning again by doing literally nothing.

81·14 days agoBecause studio execs don’t care about women and want the super hero fad to continue even when audiences have moved on for the most part. They play it save, by the numbers with spread sheets at hand. The people in charge have no passion for these stories whatsoever because again, they don’t care about women.

6·16 days agoYou know, going by this and other comments I think you have the right idea. Like, we all are wearing blinkers as we go about our day because our whole world would fall apart if we fully realize our part in this mess. I imagine some older folks lie to themselves about global warming because their whole world view would fall apart completely.

185·16 days agoIt felt surreal arguing with boomers about record breaking temperatures the other day. Like, a new record was just broken for the highest temperatures in many European countries while we’re sitting there, sweating our balls off in the middle of a 2 week long heat wave. “Nah” they kept saying “We’ve had hot days before.” When I showed them statistics they refused to look at them. Instead they changed the topic instantly and ignored me for a good 15 minutes. Those weren’t some strangers I just met, mind you. I’ve known these guys for my entire life.
Too many people but especially older people (at least from my experience) are completely delusional about climate. They aren’t interested in facts, not interested in other people telling them they’re wrong and they even ignore what they’re experiencing themselves right now in favor of a severely distorted, rather vague idea of what a summer used to be 50 years ago.

27·16 days agoChina has far more money than Italy. Especially in sports. They’re just traditionally bad at team sports. As a nation, that is. There are of course Chinese star athletes playing in a team on the international stage but not enough to actually compete in most things as a national team.

27·29 days agoThis amount of surveillance has a really disturbing track record in history. So assuming any politician backing this must be a fascist at heart is the correct approach. These politicians should not be in any position to make any of these decisions. They can’t represent democracy when they declare themselves the enemies of it.

movies@piefed.social•New poster for Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’English
4·1 month agoI think it really doesn’t have to be entirely historically accurate because it’s a myth but I’m completely with you on this one. All this steel doesn’t make any sense and it doesn’t look cool either.
There are so many ways to go about an Odyssey adaption like ‘O Brother, Where Art Thou?’ that puts a very different spin on the story to the point where most people probably didn’t even know it was an adaption on their first watch.
Or take ‘Epic: The Musical’ as recent example. It was released in animated videos to newly written songs on social media and it’s pretty phenomenal! Creative liberties are part of its charm.
Everything about Nolan’s version looks plain bad and out of time and place. He was clearly trying to make a conservative movie adaption and tried to remove as much mythical stuff as possible. But he clearly didn’t do any research so it ended up in the cultural mess of Roman fantasy armor, viking dragon boats and other influences we’re presented with in trailers and screenshots. I have little hope this can be salvaged. If anything it’s getting worse with every reveal.
Whats even to parody at this point?
