I don’t know about their boots but Birkenstock insoles are usually made out of cork, designed in a way to shape to your foot. That’s why they tend to be recommended by podiatrists. It might be that you didn’t wear them long enough to break them in.
It was not that. They were so broken in the stitching split at the seams. They were just very badly designed so dust and soil got behind the toecap and couldn’t be removed. Terrible pair of shoes, and believe me, at that price I really wanted to like them.
