Can’t in my state, have to pay over $350 in fees, training and registration before I can even take home the purchased firearm.
Poor people (sadly the majority of the U.S. and growing!) really have one of two options… Break laws to defend yourself or accept the boot on your face.
I took a concealed carry course but realized the liability for shooting someone was pretty big. If I decide to carry, I intend to take multiple proficiency courses. I think that would be required.
What state is that? I’m in Illinois and it’s pretty bad here, hard to imagine worse.
Needles to say, I’ve got my firearm owner ID (thanks IL), my conceal carry, and handful of awareness/defense/tactics style classes under my belt to be prepared for just about any scenario (hopefully)
FOID = $5 (technically all you need for step 4)
CCL = $150+ 16-hour class + $150 license good for 5 years
CCL insurance = $10+/month through USCCA, NRA, US Law Shield, or other (typically offers $1m+ for 2A defense attorney fees for criminal court and I believe ditto for civil court too)
Now you can make your firearm purchase… minus 170+ banned firearms due to loading mechanisms, attachments, magazine capacities, firing method, etc.
