Who the Hell is making these evil toys? Is there some factory somewhere just dropping these cursed things into the world?.. Wait… Who is working there and what sort of strange bullshit do they need to put up with?

Hollywood. The “real” Annabelle doll was just a Raggedy Anne doll, real life just isn’t that interesting, sadly.
I would argue that the Raggedy Anne doll is much scarier than what Hollywood came up with. A sinister thing doing something sinister is far less scary than something unassuming doing something sinister.
Its so weird that they did that anyway because “cute turned scary” was already a big genre when The Conjuring came out!
