That’s funny. Just a few days ago I was talking about seeing Princess Mononoke at the Expo in Germany and I wondered whether Expo is still a thing. I hadn’t heard anything about an Expo in decades. And now I see that they still do that and it’s even in Japan this year. Feels like the circle closes. I find that mildly interesting.

Well… I think that point could be argued. Both the EU charter and the German constitution say right at the start in article 1 that “Human dignity is inviolable”. I’d say that giving your kid some dumbass name violates their dignity. So it is very much a legal right.

So many people don’t understand that children are people and people have rights. You are responsible for your children, you don’t own them. If you don’t like that, simply don’t have kids.

The mail I got makes it quite clear that you have to opt-in if you’re using a paid version:

• For companies that are unwilling or, for legal reasons, unable to opt in to the program – nothing changes either, and their admins remain in full control.

Important to note that the data sharing is OFF by default on all types of JetBrains IDEs licenses except for non-commercial tier until you change the settings explicitly.

Other updates to the JetBrains AI Terms of Service reflect some recent changes to the JetBrains AI service. For example, JetBrains AI can now be used not only with JetBrains products, but also with selected third-party products. Highlight by me. Personally, I don’t see a reason to be outraged. I’ve even used their AI products and they’re OK. They can take over dumb tasks or help me not having to look up documentation.

My daughter got into anime through friends and I got some street creds by talking about how things used to be. Buying laserdiscs in Japan, subbing them and showing them at conventions. I subbed two episodes of some show I don’t remember. Or shipping VHS tapes across continents. My daughter doesn’t care, of course. But her friends were impressed. I fear that that was my last hurrah, though. I got nothing else.
