really weird, my touchscreen laptop worked fine
what’s the problem? if you want bigger buttons and stuff you could try gnome?

did anyone actually read the pdf?
here is the wikipedia article about the organisation doing the “research”. read their partners list and see if your conclusion changes

what’s the problem with syncthing?
the chinese aren’t worse engineers than americans, they’re just usually more incentivised to reduce cost than increase quality
anyway I think the thinkpad design team is still in japan
they’re built way better than their t14/p14s counterparts though, iirc they use the magic alloy for the chassis instead of plastic
I think this wire is a bit difficult to solder because it’s very thick, with a normal soldering iron it might pull away too much heat for the two wires to get to temperature
It’s normal for the wire to get hot while soldering though, and it’s fine to an extent. Just don’t hold them with your hands :)
If you’re having difficulties, it might be better to “tin” each of the wires before soldering. It makes it a lot easier in terms of holding the wires in place
would be interesting but I bet the FSF won’t like it

i quite like the cinnamon theme in mint, I think it looks really nice, especially with a vibrant wallpaper. In my opinion it’s modern but simple and relaxing to look at

c for smartphones

i didn’t know you could use emacs for security analysis

it’s certainly interesting, but what do you do when someone actually breaks in?

that’s an incredibly slow cpu (I’ve literally never heard of a 600MHz cpu in anything this century).
You’re free to try, but I wouldn’t expect it to run any web browser (including obsidian, because that’s electron). I’d recommend using it to experiment with extremely lightweight software like Alpine Linux with some lightweight WM

both chromium based :(
konqueror/khtml is the real alternative
it gets very technical very quickly on Linux, but have a read here: https://linrunner.de/tlp/introduction.html
what terminal emulator are you using?
oh i mean lemmy.zip is a pretty big instance imo, I think it’s barely smaller than shit
