  • Beginners are the least likely to ask thoughtful questions. We include slides in lectures about how to ask a question, but when there’s an assignment deadline and you’re inexperienced, it’s more likely you’re going to just blurt out “help me!” rather than provide a detailed explanation that doesn’t require repeated prompting. It takes time to learn how to work through an issue yourself before asking. Students are often facing time pressure and that can drive bad behavior. Correcting them is important, just don’t do it in a way that crushes their spirit.

  • For sheer aggravation, Facebook. I’ve been on it long enough to remember the chronological timeline, which made it easy to see your friends’ posts. Now you basically have to visit your friends’ profile to see what they’ve posted recently.

Instagram/Threads I don’t hate quite so much, but I avoid Meta products as much as possible due to my hatred of Zuck. I left Twitter and Reddit a while ago, not because I hated them but rather because I hate Elon and spez.

LO is fine for most uses though working back and forth with Office users can be problematic. Two things that I like about are: it offers a database module, which Office for the Mac doesn’t have, and it can open a lot of older file formats that newer apps can’t.

Burger King appeared in my area long before McD’s and there was one just down the street from my high school. They gave us enough crowns for everyone to wear one time and everyone, teachers included, did. It was glorious.

When the BK crown is offered, you wear it.
