Get the largest vacuum bag. Stuff a giant stuffed animal into it. Suck all the air out of it until it looks llike a midsized irregular object. Wrap it and give it to your 5 year old nephew, having Christmas at grandma’s house (6 hour drive from home).

    Bahahahahaha

To be fair, my brother-in-law started it by giving my kids the loudest most annoying shit possible. Vengeance is mine.

  • The OS desktop environment has stagnated over the past 15 years.

Many businesses have transitioned from a 3-4 year rotation on desktops/laptops to every 5-6 years today. Hell my work laptop is 6 years old and I don’t forsee replacing it for another 3-4 years. For work functions there is no significant improvement to upgrading more frequently today.

So if they launched W12 next year, widespread adoption will likely not occur until 2032-2033 or at the Win11 EOL whichever comes first.

The developers today are working on a system that will not become mainstream for 8+ years. They want to launch in the next 2 years knowing it will not be adopted for years.

They ignoring the reality of today’s market and building to meet the latest fads. It’s Windows 8 all over again.

  • Its a U.S. medical bill.

The hospital asks for whatever the fuck it wants after it does the treatment.

Then insurance says “we only pay a negotiate rate” and pays $25-$30K."

I had intern from France a year back when I worked in research. He went skiing and broke his leg around 6 months in. The French healthcare system sent him a check for how much the medical treatment would cost in France. It was around 10% of the bill. He paid the 10% to the hospital.

The hospital kept billing him and sent some of the bills to collections. He asked me what to do about it. “Tell them they have been fully paid by the French health system and to take it up with them. Then go back to France in 2 months and forget about it.”

He laugh and said they immediately stopped bothering him after that.

  • Further explanation:

Mongoose are snake predators and have developed resistance to cobra venoms native to their home range. Most of the time they avoid any bites with relfexes and speed but they do get hit.

Although Australian poisonous snakes are of the cobra family, they have different venom complexes to those in India etc. Their immunity developed over millennia of evolution doesn’t work. So the introduced mongooses ended up as a dinner for the snakes.

When I was on the travel circuit I always did a carry-on and a backpack. The backpack was usually full of job related equipment so there wasn’t much room for clothing etc. The carry-on was enough for trips of up to 2 weeks.

As I was in agricultural fields and hot temps everyday in all sorts of countries, full changes of clothing was required plus at least one laundry stop before I came home(phytosanitary rules and all). My carry-on often weighed in at 40lbs or more on those trips.

They have been proven multiple times to significantly decrease productivity but they are cheaper to build. Visual and sound distractions break up concentration when you are tying to work.

I had one place that insisted on an open office with these these torture style “ergonomic” chairs. I hated the setup so did some sleuthing. The chair model was discontinued because they sucked and the company got them on a steep discount. The “open office” desks where 1/8 the price of a traditional cubical setup.

Non-destructice hijinks were highly encouraged at my first job. It was a way to encourage people to remember to lock up their computers when they stepped away.

So mouse button settings were often reversed, hotkeys were mapped, desktop backgrounds were modified, and basically every other non-destructive computer prank was pulled.

Strange, what mysterious land is this where farm laborers are paid fairly. I have traveled to every continent and 40+ countries visiting thousands of farms. Never have I found a place where farm laborers were paid fairly. They are always the abused serfs of the society working long hours for little pay.

I have seen human suffering in vast quantities but never a fair wage.
