Don’t forget the Donald Duck dick pic from John Oliver’s Last Week Tonight that gets brought up with every duck story (last time with the Reflecting Pool).

As a Czech, you already know that but the brief democratic Czecho—Slovak Federation (1989-1992) also had a “Hyphen war” (actually just an argument) where Slovakia was not content with the longest dash available and wanted an “and” in the middle, breaking grammatical rules. Greater disagreements later resulted in the countries’ peaceful dissolution on New Year’s Eve 1992.
But the languages are different enough to be distinct despite being largely mutually understandable (you can use Slovak in Czech courts to this day). This means there is no embarrassing doubling or tripling of legally required text like with Slovenian & Not Slovenian & Legally Distinct Not Slovenian.

Every night in May, a couple young long-eared owls would screech near where I live. I don’t need more screeching.
Edit: now that I know what screeching is, that was closer to squealing

I suppose the sound helps too. It’s why they’re called that, right?

dedicated
The same way you’d say “dedicated heroin user”. It’s addicting.
Speaking of which, I don’t think you can take any drugs to make that holiday special make sense. It’s like if Darth Vader had a change of heart and summoned a Life Day dinner for the Wookie family. (That video is not the most out-of-place, but certainly the most “:3” scene)

I found a piece of shit Czechoslovak TV program on YouTube and wanted to point the German uploader who took great lengths to subtitle it to other bizarre stuff, and I needed to edit it a bit. I’ll upload a video with a bit of the Arabella Holiday Special soon, it’s worse than the Star Wars one at times…

It’s not Mézga Csálad, too early for that. Also, all of them have human main characters and no talking pigs AFAIK (although some Bolki i Lolki episodes do feature cops).

pig in the hat
That might be a specific cartoon but how could I know? The rabbit hole goes deeper but I’m not Hungarian.
Also, pair of skis?
Reminds me of this. German only: Keller eines Wassermannes aus Wie soll man Dr. Mráček ertränken oder Das Ende der Wassermänner in Böhmen (ČSSR, 1975) / Längeres Vorschau mit ganzer Verwicklung
(I don’t think there is an English dub, and subbed copies are not readily linked to online, also explaining the vodník/Wasserman folklore is easier to Germans)

The proverb is older than me, it predates plumbing.

We Czechs say “The jug gets used to bring water over and over till the handle falls off.” More obvious.

Better than a headline leaving out the important bits
Mapy uses OSM data outside the Czech Republic, and the extra features there compared to FOSS apps are only marginally useful. However, I am in the Czech Republic so I use the year-old 9.55.2 (9550200) Android app (last version before Premium enshittification).

What is oenisn? Misspelled Genshin? Open-ish? Leninism? Bosnian? Penis?
This is about a week before they stopped shrieking and started living on their own, so not really babies anymore. Here’s one of their parents, a shitty 1.6MP photo from a 15-year-old camcorder. I don’t have the storage to process the (720p) videos right now.

I feel sorry for disturbing it, it clearly needed a rest from 3 weeks of care. And this was a small tree, just some 6 m above me, any recent DSLR with a telephoto/zoom lens could have made a picture as good as the one in the post. The younglings were higher up though (some 15 m diagonal line-of-sight), you can tell they’re in a dense linden as opposed to a bare branch of a walnut tree… And they wanted to take a look at me, bobbing and circling their heads… Unfortunately the real action is at dusk, the only video I have of them eating and flying is a blurry, grainy silhouette…
My neighbor has a phone with a periscope telephoto lens, this is the best picture.

We had a pair of these close to where I live! I don’t have a camera nearly as good, though.
That’s the thing: it’s one of the few laptops you can buy without RAM and disk (of course only usable if you have these parts already)
