That’s precisely one original movie in the top 10. The rest is based on a franchise or a remake.
And even then you could say that Pixar is a franchise by itself. Not to take away from tgeir original works, but be it Disney, Pixar or Ghibli - those get a lot of butts in the seats from that alone.
I actually noticed that too, looking at all of them, all but one is an adaptation or sequel or a remake.
And even that one original movie is just a bland rehash of previous Pixar movies, I’ll take sequels all day if that’s what we’re getting for originals
The only one here worth my time was Spiderverse. I loved the first one and the first half of the second movie lived up to expectations IMO. I just hope the second half maintains quality.
Didn’t realize the little mermaid ended up being such a big hit.
Also these movies are doing well they’re just leveraged against insane budgets. Studios need to find a way to reign in spending while also paying their workers more. The answer is a little less for shareholders/execs and cutting out the excessive CGI. I think audiences want more things that are real than fake video game spectacle. And it ends up being cheaper.
if they cut the opening sequence for the Dial of Destiny it probably would have halved the budget 🤷♂️
Oh there is a cheaper way coming, only the studios, actors and writers are fighting against it. It is call A.I. and it will put movie making in everyone’s hands with a little know-how. Users won’t need expensive sets/crews/studios/actors/writers…and not to mention, it will trample all over their protective, trademark properties. They know it is coming and it is going to destroy old Hollywood.
Nice infographic
Thank you!
The only one I would like to go watch is Mario, with low hopes. And Indiana Jones, after rewatching the old ones, fully knowing is going to be awful.
Spiderverse is excellent and GotG is fun
honestly, Indy is not bad, but I went in with low expectations. Also, highly recommend the Spiderverse series, and I couldn’t care less about Spiderman
