  • I felt like that guy during the toilet paper shortage. I had to go get 3 family sized bumper packs for various houses because they couldn’t go themselves because covid was scary and they were old and weak.

Everybody giving me evil eyes as I walked them home.

I didnt even need any I stole like 100 industrial-sized rolls from my work over the years prior to lockdown. I just couldnt tell anyone because then they’d be asking “how did you get toilet paper?” And “why is this the shitty 1-ply stuff you get in public restrooms” and “wait how much have you got?” And then before you know it my windows are panned in and ive got my entire stash nicked.

  • The problems you’re talking about in the OP are purely monetary. Advertisers don’t want it so media/content can’t do it and survive.

The upcoming generation are behaving less unruly these days I think for 2 reasons :

    • Everything is being recorded and shared all the time. You fart in an elevator and you might go viral. God only knows the fear you’d experience waking up hungover after a party in this world.

-Regular rebellion against the previous generation. We had eminem, limp bizkit, rage against the machine, Bart Simpson, an entire barrage of “fuck authority” as a culture. Only real way to rebel against that is “fuck yeah, authority”.

You can temporarily pause them, until they escape, or use their new imprisonment to their advantage and do even more harm than before. Nobody stops Dr Badman V. Lain for long.

Its an excellent opportunity to have your hero experience some Deep Feelings, and an excuse to use the thunder and lightning equipment you renter that didn’t work as well as you’d hoped in the battle scene

I always wondered what the answer was but never got round to looking it up. I thought there’s no way it can be such a famous sentence and have the answer be that fucking stupid.

Maybe in the 60s or sometime when gender norms were more strictly enforced it would have been good?

  • Last time I was in that situation was in the Turkish barber. He had a really really thick accent and I struggle parsing the spoken word at the best of times. Out of fear of potentially being viewed racist I just nodded and gave the man a thumbs up, assuming he was probably asking if the job was OK. He came back with a cottonball of kerosene or something, set it on fire and started waving it at my ear. Turns out “ear flame” is a real thing, and what was being offered.

Motherfucker made me anxious sweat, then cast fireball “without warning”, and charged me an extra £8 for my troubles. I will forever rue the day.
