30·3 days agoA bit unrelated, but I wonder if I’m the only one left that is:
- Using small, open-weight models
- Asking it to only write small snippets that I can easily go through, check and understand.
- Copying pasting from good old web frontends instead of integrating it into my editor or whatever else people do with agents nowadays.
I feel like when we’re talking about AI this sort of usage gets lumped into the same pile as agentic vibe coding and it’s not helpful for discussion. Surely most people wouldn’t find this problematic?
but it might be fairly compared to the Cotton Gin in terms of making the field workers more productive in the delivery of market ready code/cotton.
Last i heard was that developers FELT like it made them more productive but actually not so much.
I don’t really understand after reading the article what changed? All they did was quote discords blog post from February and this random twitter account … that also had no sources.
Not to mention the article is AI slop.

It’s a site where you ask questions and people (hopefully experts) answer. That was the main idea behind it. But it was filled with garbage, unhelpful answers and it just went downhill.
Also yeah the fact that Reddit is more popular than Youtube is really weird to me and I don’t quite believe it.
How the hell is Quora more popular than youtube … huh ? Who in their right mind still uses Pinterest and Quora???

The popular Chinese alternative to YouTube, Bilibili, with around 376 million monthly active users, has confirmed plans to expand more aggressively outside China. The company has relaunched its international app for Android and iOS, and removed the previous requirement for overseas users to provide identity documents such as a passport.
Bilibili is also expanding its international presence with hiring in markets including Japan, the United States, and Europe. A new X account aimed at global creators has said that Bilibili is “going global” and that the US and Chinese versions will offer the same content

I get the appeal of this, but I feel this is part of a broader problem of relying on AI for problems that already have elegant, simple solutions. Like relying on LLM’s to tell you what was the last google doc that you viewed is just not sustainable and creates bad habits. Soon people will ask what was the last tab I was just in, instead of using a keyboard shortcut and or having proper tab management.
Imagine using it for your code editor, instead of using the built-in functionality of jump-lists, marks, fuzzy finders and so on… Or switching to an editor that has these things. What file was I just in? Where did I just write this function?

There’s something about Bluesky I just don’t quite like. I have an account, sometimes (rarely) I use it. But for example today I wanted to share a short video with a friend. I send him the link - “only logged in users can see this post (OP himself set this option)” ok, weird but let me download the vid and send him - “nope can’t do that”
They literally added some frontend bullshit to not allow you to download a freaking video. When you Inspect it with developer tools it shows a button… If you try saving it with right clicking it will save the thumbnail instead… I know there are probably easy-ish workarounds but this sort of instagram closedness pisses me off.
Meanwhile in Mastodon I right click and save video as…
I also don’t like the underlying complexity of how decentralization is supposed to work there. That being said, if the choice is between twitter, threads or bluesky, please use bluesky.
I prefer Mastodon, though.
This looks promising ! I am currently paying 10$ / month for this other service that is basically a front-end for openrouter. Was searching to switch since :
- Don’t like the founder and his braindead push for LLM’s.
- Everything is hosted in the US.
- I have cut back on my LLM usage by a lot, to the point that I don’t think I spend 10$ worth of tokens. GPT 20B , Gemma 4 27B and DeepSeek v4 flash end up being like 90% of my usage and I try to use them sparingly, keep answers, conversations short.
I do wonder what to do about the frontend? My mentioned service has a pretty good web app with decent UI and it worked on mobile as well without much problems. I actually end up using LLM’s quite often on mobile as I read a lot on it.
2·2 months agoIn fucked up places, people just live day to day and are in survival mode. I believe I have once read something that goes along the lines of “poorer demographics generally have tendency to make more children because they think that more children is the most sure way to secure their near future for when they get older”
I think it’s simpler than that. Nothing to do when you’re poor and overworked so you just fuck. Oh, and less caring about the consequences.
Yeah it was funny to read :

But then (talking about the hacker):
They said they also accessed Suno’s customer list, which included customers’ emails and/or phone numbers and Stripe payment details, depending on what they used to login. The hacker provided a sample of some of the customers, some of whom confirmed to 404 Media they had used their phone number to sign up for Suno and said they were never notified of a breach.
I guess email address, phone and payment details don’t matter enough to notify people.
Things like this radicalize people against all AI.
