The amount of times I’ve gone to a top ranked website by duckduckgo and read the first paragraph only to go “oh this is just more slop” is ridiculous. I have to append reddit to every search to get anything useful and even then it could be bots.

Not sure what “this generation” pertains to btw A) Were just more open about despising working so the most efficient way to get there with the least effort is the best way B) No money, no relationships, no hope for future, why bother with anything else C) anyone at any point can just become an Op and what you do could be immortalized on the internet forever and i hate to be that guy If you aren’t a white dude then that could he particularly dangerous.

Many of us do ask lots of questions but they’re more like, “Why am i trapped by a government that doesnt care about its constituents and when i try to help other people they tell me im an idiot and I chose the wrong guy snd their guy is better?” Or “Hmm will I ever buy a house?” Or “Wow im getting somewhat older will my friends ever be able to not live with their parents?”

I personally really hate web apps and would rather have native apps for everything. Even some apps that feel off UI wise I find annoying but better than website. And yes I’m an Apple/Gnome user so I guess that makes sense…

Open source firmware seems good from a security perspective, motherboard manufacturers seem to really suck balls. Could someone more knowledgeable about core boot explain it a bit to me if they’re willing? I don’t know too much about it besides I think I remember hearing framework uses it?

The humans are making those decisions whether you use AI or not. There’s lots of bias in training any form of model, and many people doing the training dont likely prioritize. Yes there is actual training bias like leakage and sample distribution issues that everyone knows, but the implicit biases are far more insidious. Look at all the facial recognition software or the countless prison ml/ai applications that are ridiculously biased to minorities. AI is no better and arguably worse. Are you going to ask the AI how it got to its answer? Because it can’t tell you about its little weights.

Yeah stiff competition for sure. It’s unfortunate that it feels like big scale games of that quality are so few and far in between and much of the AAA size games end up being garbage. Default is whatever the motherboard provisions when reset to default settings. I’m using custom which is my own keys generated with sbctl + whatever is baked into my motherboard or at least that’s what I understand sbctl will do.

Sure I’m advertising I guess, but I mean their primary model is agressive battle pass and skin sales which subsidize me playing. I’m not entirely sure what they’d do with my data with whatever they’re even collecting except try to make me and other players more enticed to buy skins. I’m aware free is not free but I mean saying “harvesting my data” doesn’t mean anything to me unless I know what they’re harvesting or using it for. Everyone is harvesting my data. Bots are scraping my Lemmy data right now, minimizing that is fine but there’s no way to have a vacuum sealed private existence on the internet.
