And this should include any terms or conditions! No more “Please accept our updated privacy agreement”. Fuck you, I bought the thing, the thing should remain as I bought it. No more planned obsolescence, selling of data and all of the other bullshit. Companies have been getting away with this shit for far too long.
20·16 days agoWell when they said the Pentagon was using AI to help coordinate the attacks on Iran, I simply assumed it was some expert system with a machine learning component. But no, it turns out they were using Grok, an actual LLM chatbot. Which is fucking crazy.
So sometimes the assumption goes the other way as well.

75·20 days agoI disagree, the issue with eugenics is that it’s absolute bullshit. Made up by racists and fascists to justify their views.
Genes simply don’t work like that, each person doesn’t just get the genes from their parents, but from the entire bloodline of each parent. Which means we get a huge mix of stuff, some of which will be expressed and a lot of it won’t be. This means children might be similar to parents (but also might not be), but after a few generations it’s very hard to track any kind of complex trait.
Most people are about as smart as one another, given the chance to develop and grow. Differences in perceived intelligence are often much more a product of the environment, than anything related to genes. Rich families paid for their kids to go to the best schools, thus their offspring is perceived as more intelligent.
So no the issue isn’t just forced eugenics, the issue is eugenics period. Genes do not make one person superior to another and there is no such thing as an Ubermensch or master race.
While the movie is funny you should know the basic premise is eugenics. Which might not be something to cheer on, given the current history repeating trend.

When they said they are using AI I thought it was like a lot of scientists and engineers use “AI”. Like some sort of expert system with a neural network somewhere in the guts. Some math thing that gets labeled as AI to keep the funding going.
But they are actually using Grok. An LLM. A bullshit generation machine.
They are actually going “@grok Where do we bomb the brown people?”
That’s fucking batshit insane. They don’t actually think that it is an AI right? They don’t actually think it can reason or think at all? Or solve problems? Or any of the things that would actually be useful, instead of simply generating the next most probable piece of bullshit in a long line of never ending bullshit.
This world is actually fucking insane. The amount of brain washing going on when it comes to AI is wild.
Which is impressive because it still sucks balls. Especially when it misses items, so you need to dig through folders to find the item. Only for the subject to have the exact word you searched for and it somehow didn’t show up.
Plus the annoying top results and search results being mixed in the same view. Either just sort by time or by relevance. Don’t go mixing them together into a messy results view that’s hard to use.
They’ve calmed down a bit with it now, but there was this phase where they had those small little popups all over the place whenever they changed stuff or added something new. Sometimes even two or three of them you needed to clear just to do the damn job you booted up the infernal program for in the first place. It would drive me insane. Especially when there was something actually worth looking at, but I need to do my job first. But in order to use the tool, you needed to close those popups and once you did they were gone forever. So good job remember what it was and how to find it. Such awful UX design.
Tho Plex recently did a full screen wizard to show off their new “Discussion” feature. A feature I do not want and will never use. But I was still required to go through the slide deck on each of my devices before I could use the app again. UX is really an art and in my experience kind of a lost art for the most part these days.
When you are having a really big yawn and feel the bottom of your mouth tense up. Those are the absolute worst cramps. Especially when you’re with someone else who thinks you’re choking or having a seizure or something. And you can’t tell them it’s fine and it’s just a cramp, since you can’t open your mouth.

Well one of the issues with having a classic hairstyle is you end up looking like your grandma, which usually isn’t the look people are going for.
Yeah especially because they now have some convoluted method involving different counts of processing, cache etc. But the developer has no easy way of seeing those statistics and thus has no feel for them. And developers already have little control over how much tokens a task takes. Which was fine with the flat rate, just use the service. But now that those things actually matter, the stats should be way easier to see?
So in typical Microsoft fashion not only did they raise prices they somehow made it even more shit. Like the AI already sucked, but does the service itself need to suck as well?
Not being able to control costs and very vague productivity improvement claims makes the ROI impossible to calculate. So even if the AI wasn’t shit, it would still be hard to figure out if it’s even helping at all.
ACKSHUALLY the risk isn’t in the cyanide. It’s because if you eat the seeds a new apple tree will start growing inside your body. Once it gets too big your body will be torn apart and you fucking die. The only way to fix it is to send in a gardener with a chainsaw, which is obviously risky and painful.
This isn’t a guarantee and also assumes the previous version management was git.

Even if it fires, it wouldn’t have much velocity. Large bullets have a lot of mass, so they need a lot of fuel to burn in order to get them up to speed. This fuel burns relatively slowly. That’s why large guns usually have long barrels as well. That allows for the fuel to completely burn and the expanding gasses to keep pushing the bullet all the way. The barrel can be too long, so usually it’s made such that a little bit of unburnt fuel comes out as the bullet exits. But with a small little thing like this, almost all the fuel would be thrown out with the bullet.
It would still be dangerous obviously, but I think much more dangerous for the person operating the device.
