  • Im right there with you. I didnt want our second dog. My wife was certain she did. Now his seperation anxiety is so bad that hes on puppy prozac and needs something cleaned up every day because we both work. And guess whos doing all the feeding, cleaning, medicine, and baths? Guess who wants to get rid of him? And guess who he follows around and will literally sit on?

    Edit: grammar

if you leave them alone, they’ll leave you alone

Not exactly. My old work building used to have to shut entrances because of the geese. Theyd apparently nest close to the door and attack anyone who came in or out.

One time i parked my car, then two geese started fighting in front of my car. I went to get out and they both turned toward me. I quickly shut the door and had to wait the fight out.

    Theyre dicks.

  • You gain an extra level of deniability if you dont ask. Also its about how its received by the interviewee. If i ask how your summers going and you offer up you have 5 kids, thats different than me asking if you have kids. If i bring up your family situation or kids, the natural question arises, “why would he care about that?” And it can guide the mind to discrimination. People are aware of the fact that having kids have a preception in the corporate world, and if they dont want that to influence the process, theyre not going to offer it up. But just like anything, if someone wants to file a frivolous law suit, theyre going to find a way

  • Not in HR, but am involved in the hiring process. We are not allowed to ask personal questions. Cant talk about family or personal background. If i ask a question about someones family and they tell me they have 5 kids, and they dont get the job because we found a better candidate, they have a clear and obvious path to file a discrimination case.

“I didnt get hired because they knew i had 5 kids and they assumed I wouldn’t be able to dedicate time to the company yada yada.”

" i told them that my religion was xyz and they knew my religious holidays dont align with their holiday schedule and they didnt hire me because they didnt want to make new policy to allow me my time and give me my protected right to religion"

    Its just easier to not

If youre mathematically inclined, think the correct door is +1 and the incorrect door is -1. The one who tells the truth is +1, and the one who lies is -1. When you look at them, all you see is absolute value of 1, and you dont know if its positive or negative. By asking the question to 1 of them about how the other would answer, youre now ensuring you have 1 truth and 1 lie. A +1 and a -1. Now your question is multiplying -1 and +1, and it doesnt matter if you +1 x -1 or -1 x +1 because transitive property, you always get -1… or the door that is incorrect.

  • Just fyi investorpedia is reliable. Ive personally never found incorrect information there.

Im not so sure id call schwab a conflict of interest exactly. They do provide the service, but financial institutions like that are not allowed to provide investing advice, so they cant upsell strategies like that. All they can do is explain it so that you know what strategy you want to pursue.

One of my coworkers does ultra marathons, once did 100 mile run, straight thru the mountains. Hes won boston qualifier marathons. Dude is a machine. But he shows up to those short races too. His favorite is the mile. Theyre not there to compete with people who are there just to complete, theyre there because they fucking love to run and want EVERY opportunity to run. Its not about “you,” its about them.

  • He had first year of state tests this year and his oldest tested an entire grade above where she should be. They are enrolled in so many activities (sports, music, cooking classes, etc.) That they get plenty of social interaction and develop their social skills.

I appreciate your uninformed opinion tho

Are you paying attention to your 401k? S&P is up ytd. If youre actively paying attention to your 401k, yours should be doing even better than that.

I dont care what side of the political aisle youre on, but your retirement 401k shouldn’t be being deatroyed right now

  • My buddy does this with 3 kids. Hes been a contractor all his life for start up. Regularly gets equity in the start up. Builds it up, then cashes out.

Works for him as a contractor because he can make his own hours and they home school their kids, so they travel all the time too

  • I dont know if your location in canada is similar, but i know the mega churches (and some smaller churches) around me have an open door policy and allow anyone to be in their lobby to use their internet during the daylight hours. Some even provide coffee and snacks all day.

Dont know if thats any sort of option for you, and you might have people from the church approaching you at times, but maybe it could have worked out?
