104·22 hours agoCan I ask why people still use dedicated email software? I’m sure there’s a reason. Maybe just familiarity, but I’ve never once opened my email inbox from anything other than a browser. It seems like a royal PITA.

1·1 day agoSame. I actually built my first computer a year before prices went super saiyan but it sounds like you got an even better deal. My system is:
- Intel 14100 - $98
- 2×16 DDR4 Corsair 3200 - $57
- Asrock B660 - $98
- Corsair 80+ bronze PSU - $70
- 500GB Crucial SSD - $37
- Seagate 28TB HHD - $368
So $728 plus a cheapo case. Today it would be $1171 just casually picking the same parts from eBay, Amazon, and Newegg. That’s a 160% jump.

51·7 days agoI’d bet my life savings you don’t actually feel this strongly about honey bees. And secondly, honey bees don’t need “invasive agriculture” to survive or produce honey. They produce honey just fine from natural wildflowers and wildflowers benefit all the same from pollination.

Well that depends. Were you suggesting that he do that officially or unofficially?

11·22 days agoThat’s already happened. Ronald Reagan was a big fan of SciFi and created a think tank of SciFi authors to advise him on potential threats of the future.
I’ll be honest. After the initial Hamas attack I also thought Israeli response was acceptable. I didn’t know much of anything beyond Zionist propaganda. I learned the truth and now I can say with absolute certainty and conviction that Israel is an aggressor in more than just the Palestinian conflict(which is a genocide). It’s hard to know you’re in a propaganda bubble when the edge is on the other side of the world. But now that I know it’s there, it’s absolutely influencing my decisions in elections. I voted against an AIPAC candidate in the Democratic primary entirely because of their campaign funding sources.

1·1 month agoI’m also an anglophone, but this seems not quite right to me. There’s no real need to insert a comma in that sentence, as there’s no real need to pause for clarity or pacing.

Technology@lemmy.world•Motorola confirms GrapheneOS support for a future phone, bringing over featuresEnglish
14·1 month agoMotorola phones have a feature that allows you to “chop” with your phone twice to turn on/off the flashlight. It sounds super mundane, but it is way more convenient than you can imagine. Especially for me as an athletic trainer when I’m testing pupil response during a concussion evaluation. They also allow you to twist your phone twice to open the camera, but I don’t find that as convenient since double tapping the lock button also works.

3·1 month agoI’m on a second generation of Motorola phones. I gave them a shot with the 2020 g power and upgraded to the 2023 edge+. The g power was fine for about 2 years but then I really began to feel the brunt of having such a underperforming chipset. I’d definitely suggest getting something that’s more in the midrange price bracket given my experience. My advice so take it or leave it.

17·1 month agoGood. Now if only they could make the Edge+ with the same relative spec sheet and ditch the curved glass in 2027. I’d buy it in a heartbeat for Graphene. My next phone WAS going to be a Pixel for the broader case/screen protector support, but that would make me reconsider cause I would really miss the chop chop flashlight.
