Thanks for the info guys, good stuff!
Those of you who are telling me to look for a new workplace over an OS change are a bit crazy though lol. It’s not quite that bad.

Definitely not worth it over and OS change. It does suck though

Issue is I won’t be able to sign into my work’s SSO due to it requiring the device to be entra enrolled after the change :(

It was on a work issued device already, so I can’t complain too much. Still sucks though after using it for so long.

Oh I’m using Fedora KDE on my home system already. Issue is I’m unable to sign into email or basically anything that uses my work’s SSO due to it requiring the device to be entra enrolled :(

Some peoples only access to reliable Internet is starlink.
I don’t like musk at all, but until there’s a reliable alternative, it may be the only thing people have access to.
This is why I kinda hate 8BitDo’s naming scheme. There’s 2 version of the Ultimate 2:
Ultimate 2 Bluetooth-Has the Nintendo button layout and is made primarily for Switch.
Ultimate 2 Wireless-Has the Xbox button layout, and is primarily made for PC.
If you have the Wireless with the Xbox layout, it’s Bluetooth doesn’t register as a Switch Pro Controller, just as a dinput device. It does support the Gyro and analog triggers.
I totally get the frustration with bluetooth, I used a normal switch pro controller for years on my pc and had constant issues with it. That said, I haven’t had any issues with my Ultimate 2 Wireless. I’ve only had it since November, but I haven’t had any issues with it disconnecting.
If you want me to test anything on, let me know and I’ll be glad to :)
8bitdo Ultimate 2 (the non switch one). Supports steam input natively including gyro.
If you connect via Bluetooth, that ultimate 2 just supports steam input natively with the correct buttons displayed, including gyro.
Not as much as I should be tbh.
I’m an 8bitdo fan. A couple of them even have native steam input: https://www.8bitdo.com/steam/

I’m down for the competition. 660TI performance is ROUGH though.

This is pretty tricky. Sure you can tweak your CPU all day to try to get some lower power usage, but to get more drastic changes, it really starts at the hardware your using. I would suggest getting a N100 nas maybe? But it kinda defeats the saving money on power usage if you have to spend $150-$300 to do so.

For a card released in 2017 for only $230, it’s still very impressing how well it still cooks
Sorry man, your going to get down voted like crazy just because you posted something bad about Linux.
Good info thoughm

Understanding the proper way to install apps is the biggest one. Make it clear that .exe files are for Windows only.
I wouldn’t try to go further than that, I feel that’s the biggest thing a general user really needs to know.
That’s odd. I’ve used a variety of 8BitDo controllers on a few distros through the years with no issues. I don’t have specifically the Pro 2 though.

Do you have a link to the announcement? I can’t find it online :(

Coolio, can we get the steam client to 64 bit as well?
It is a work device. I was just allowed to use fedora until now.
