There’s a way to do it, and there’s a way not to do it. If you’re reposting something that directly solicits feedback and you don’t know enough to be able to respond, that’s no fun. If you’re looking over reddit, carefully selecting interesting content, and hosting good conversation about it, that’s very healthy. Given you’re using words like “large scale” and “direct,” I assume you mostly have the unhealthy kind in mind.

It’s worth noting that in the ~2 weeks since this was published, Bun 1.4 was actually released. I don’t know how the release has gone.

I too wish Reddit would federate, but that’s not happening, and forcibly doing it yourself doesn’t really seem to be accomplishing your goals.

Idk what to tell you. I mostly like what you repost from Reddit, but saying all this is absolutely making the situation worse. It feels like you could make some simple changes, keep posting most of what you do, and make a lot of folks a lot happier.

The folks behind monsterdon have the number one feature I want, which is the ability to replay social media posts, synchronized with the broadcast. If you miss monsterdon live, they have an app that lets you indicate when you start the movie, and then it shows all the toots offset from when you started the movie, as if you were watching it live with everyone else. It’d be awesome if I could do the same with a match-specific hashtag.

Likely the players do not know the song by heart, and are reading the music instead. You still have a conductor if everyone has the whole thing memorized, though, to keep everyone together. By the time you are performing, the conductor is mostly ornamental – they do keep the beat, but if you’re a professional musician and you don’t already know where the beat is, you’re hosed. Most of what the conductor does is rehearse the orchestra. The musicians will read and practice the music themselves, and then the conductor brings them all together and had them practice important or difficult passages, and explain how they want the different parts to fit together, or stylistic changes they want. For younger musicians, they may also rehearse difficult passages to help the musicians practice, but as you get older and more skilled, you’re expected to do that on your own. When you go to watch your local symphony, the conductor is basically dancing and it’s more about conveying emotion and pulling the tempo faster or slower.
